Just had a bad experience today with one of the female employees, which makes me sad because we’ve gone in a few times for aquarium supplies and never had a problem the last few days we went in and got some fish for our new tank after getting it set up for a few weeks and unfortunately a few of the fish that we had gotten died most of them were fine though so we just thought it was the transportation stressing them out and when we went in to get a few more fish because they are community fish and need buddies to thrive they insinuated that we were bad fish owners, even though half of the Betta fish in those tiny containers are dead in their store, I just found it really annoying and hypocritical of them. We’ve also kept many fish alive for years even a carnival goldfish for about five years now and have had no problems.

zero stars, I come here every so often because they receive fish shipments from the same retailers as other local fish stores (on occasion, not every fish, not all the time.) , and they have cheaper prices, probably due to corners being cut in QOL for the Fishes, and other animals sold at petco's worldwide. I feel guilty every time, because I would rather be supporting FIN AND FEATHER or ARCATA PET SUPPLY (SUPPORT THEM PLEASE!), but my wallet leads me there anyways. Doing this I am already overlooking many issues such as: clearly neglected and abused Betta fishes, Sick fish due to lack of quarantine, attention, medication, along with shared sumps, and species that have no real place in the aquarium hobby, especially for beginners, such as common plecos or FLOWERHORNS?? (why??). Yet the new*? staff there have the AUDACITY to question me and refuse to sell me fish after I told them my quarantine tank was 15g. I was trying to purchase 6 juvenile WCMM and 5 neon tetras. Even with the 1fish per 1g rule of thumb (which is a vague and imprecise way to gauge stocking for tanks) I am still within those parameters. Your employee never explained what said policy even was, just told me it was against it. No reasoning, No explanation. I dont think the emplyee even knew why, This is simply ridiculous, and a dangerous way to think. it's scary when people follow these guidelines like zombies and cannot think for themselves or take the time to understand the LIVE ANIMALS they are SELLING FOR PROFIT. People have praised the questioning from emploees, (Belive it or not I not only support this, but was part of the group of people who voiced that it was wrong to just hand out fishes willy nilly) as petco and other big box pet stores have historically been known for giving away fishes to people who have no buisiness keeping said fishes, this should be a good thing, but when your employees don't have a care/clue in the world about the animals they are taking care of, that's a double standard, that worsens the care the animal receives. more to say but google auto flagged my review and id rather get it partially out than not out at all, fighting googles spam bot.
