I used to love this vet, new ownership is horrid. They canceled my dogs perception after asking me to bring him in for weight to refill it. Then they didn’t answer the phone for over a week or return my calls after leaving messages. When I finally reached someone she was so rude and short, tells us the new vet who now owns the hospital will not honor the previous prescriptions without coming in and getting a full checkup and pay full price for a visit plus perception costs and they will no longer approve flea and tick meds though chewy, we must purchase them at their hospital.

My pet has an inoperable tumor, which is being managed at home to keep him comfortable until the difficult decision needs to be made. In addition, he was prescribed a BP medication last year. Last week, my pharmacy made attempts to get this refilled, which were declined. I called the pet hospital, who told me I would need to book a wellness visit and $335 set of tests before they would issue the refill. The person who took the call said that there is a new doctor, and he "gets mad" if they put in prescription refills. When I explained my pet's condition, another person took the call and said I could sign a waiver. Since these tests would not change his terminal diagnosis nor likely to change his treatment plan, I drove over to sign the document, since they said they would not issue the refill until it was signed in person. I initially asked to speak with the doctor or have him call me, but he was busy at the time. However, when I showed to sign the doc, the receptionist confirmed he was standing in front of me with another patient. When he finished, I said hello and asked him for a minute of his time to answer two quick questions about the waiver. The two questions were going to be: (1.) how long will this waiver remain effective (I don't want to do this every month) and (2.) what things would show on the test that would change our treatment plan? But I never got to ask those two simple questions because he cut me off and said he didn't have time for me. I said it would be very quick, and he waived me off and said I could schedule an appointment for my questions. His manner was dismissive and didn't leave me with confidence and trust to bring my three other pets there for future checkups and treatment. Also, this is the fourth doctor I've had to deal with in less than a year. That tells me a lot about how things are being run here. My pets previous vet was in EG for 20+ years until she retired, and she always treated her patients and their owners with professionalism and compassion (both are lacking here).

Very bad service. Yesterday I brought my dog in to have his ears checked. He’s been here before and has never had any bad behavioral history, he is also professionally trained. But because he’s a big breed the doctor was unnecessarily nervous and made comments insulting my dogs demeanor as if he was dangerous. Even with a muzzle on for safety measures and him gently laying on the ground the doctor said he wouldn’t move forward unless we sedate him, when I said that was unnecessary he refused to give us services. Never experienced something so unprofessional and insulting, we received great services at Stonelake Pet Hospital instead without the need of sedation and they said our dog was well behaved the whole time. I’ll be letting the dog community in the Elk Grove area we’re apart of know about this experience

As a business owner and used to be a health care provider I don't like to give another business a negative review but I have to give it to this place: I have a 6 months old Frenchie with a hearing problem. I had her since 6 weeks old from a local breeder. I brought her in for a check up. The vet did not even check to see if earwax present in the dog ears. The vet told me the puppy did not allow her to look into her ears. Fingers snap test will not confirm my dog hearing issue. Instead focusing on the main issue, they recommended me to do a heart worm test on the dog that was not my main concern and necessary at that time. The heart worm result came out negative and I have to bring home the medication for it. I ended up to pay close to $200 for nothing. They did not address my main concern but they tried to sell me something else. This office is 3 minutes away from my house that is why I came. After the visit I am still not sure if my puppy's hearing issue caused by earwax or she is really deaf. I will make another appointment with UC Davis Vet hospital to confirm this office result. I WILL NOT recommend this office to friends, family members, and our community.
