Had great specials on. Only downfall was the horrible smell from the cats.

Great people helping me out. However, I pay for the premier membership of $9.99 for koi fish and it never gets applied. I have to always ask!

This review is not for the staff or stock but rather the animal care. As someone who owns reptiles and works with them, I can say without fear of contradiction that improper husbandry leads to the majority of health problems. Today I found a ball python at this Petco location with stuck shed on its head, immobile, and covered in mites. Mites are serious in exotic pet care and will spread to other tanks. This snake had mites crawling over its eyes and face, indicative of the poor condition the snake is in. I am greatly perturbed by finding an animal in this state. The ball python was still listed for sale. I’m also incredibly surprised that the animal care staff did not notice this before my visit to the store in the afternoon. The manager on duty was attentive to the issue and said he sprayed the tank with mite killer as well as left a message for the animal care manager. Hopefully the care issues are remedied and no more pets will fall victim to poor husbandry.

Being relatively new to the area, I went to my local Petco here in Costa Mesa today to get my golden retriever Sunny groomed for the first time. Our stylist Amber was super friendly and took time to make sure she knew what we needed. She did a fantastic job and I'm relieved knowing that I can return with confidence. I only wish I could afford to tip her better.

Petco Costa Mesa is a good location and has a great selection of products in a smaller store setting. The staff are helpful and friendly. Highly recommended!
