  I thought the prices were high on kitten food and customer service was lousy.

  If you want to see animal abuse, come to this PetCo. Did you know that leopard geckos are solitary animals that should be housed separately? And sand is actually a dangerous substrate because it can cause fatal impaction if ingested. You can see at least one is having trouble shedding, which means there's vitamin A deficiency in their diet. Also no places to hide in/under (they don't like being exposed, very stressful), hence the pig piles, they're struggling to find some sort of protection. It's clear that PetCo knows nothing about these animals. Either do better, or don't sell them. If you're looking for a leopard gecko, go through a breeder. PetCo breeds these poor animals like crazy for money, with no regard for their well-being. Don't support PetCo's cruel practices, buy from a well-vetted breeder.

  Drove 35 minutes to the Chico store with my family to buy a pair of chinchillas on display. When we asked to see and hold them, an employee named Chuck and Lee flatly refused. When I pointed out that animals not ready for handling shouldn't be priced on the sales floor, Lee ripped the price tag off the enclosure and dismissively told me to go ahead and complain. Both Chuck and Lee made my family feel completely unwelcome, disrespected, and judged. Horrible customer service. We left empty-handed and will not be back to this store.
