Excellent care for our senior dog
We had a great experience with Dr. Goetz at his practice on Oracle in Tucson. The service is very efficient, and the billing was reasonable and matched what we were told up front.
Dr. Goetz took his time with us. He explained everything patiently at the first visit, then came back to go over the X-ray results. He clearly sees a lot of patients, but the practice is well run and we never felt rushed.
Our dog is 17–18 years old, and the medication Dr. Goetz prescribed has worked very well for him. Dr. Goetz is a vet who truly cares. He puts the animal first and the business second, and he does both very well. We’re grateful for his care and would recommend him to anyone.

I want to be clear that I am not writing this review to attack or bash Pet Dr. RX or the people who work there. The staff were always kind to me, and they seemed to genuinely care about animals. However, my experience with my cat’s surgery and post-operative care was so upsetting that I feel obligated to share it with other pet owners.
Before the procedure, I was not informed of how extensive the surgery would actually be, nor was I told that there would be limitations in the clinic’s ability to provide certain post-operative pain medications. Had I known either of those things beforehand, I would have made a different decision regarding where to have the surgery performed.
After surgery, my cat was sent home with what I believe was completely inadequate pain management for the severity of the procedure she had undergone. Within hours, she was screaming in pain. Not meowing, not whining—screaming. The sound was so intense and heartbreaking that it honestly sounded like an animal whose leg had been caught in a bear trap. Watching her like that was one of the most traumatic experiences I have ever had as a pet owner.
To put it in human terms, it felt like sending someone home after an amputation with nothing but Tylenol and expecting them to manage. Major surgery causes major pain, and pain needs to be treated appropriately.
When I contacted the clinic because I was alarmed by my cat’s condition and level of distress, that was when I was informed of limitations regarding certain pain medications. This information was not provided to me before the surgery. Learning afterward that there were restrictions affecting post-operative pain management only added to my frustration and concern, because I believe that is something pet owners deserve to know before consenting to a significant surgical procedure.
My cat’s pain became so severe that I had to take her to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital. The emergency veterinarians provided additional treatment and pain control, and the difference was significant. Unfortunately, obtaining the care she needed resulted in approximately $4,000 in additional emergency veterinary expenses.I do not question whether the staff care about animals. My concern is with informed consent, expectations surrounding the extent of the surgery, and the adequacy of post-operative pain management. Pet owners should be fully informed about how extensive a procedure will be and whether there are any limitations that could affect their pet’s comfort and recovery afterward.
Based on my experience, I would not choose to have another surgery performed there, and I encourage other pet owners to ask detailed questions about the procedure itself, the expected pain level afterward, and exactly what pain management options will be available before making a decision.

Never once have I had an appointment occur on time - they are always a minimum of 30 minutes behind schedule. Completely disrespectful of your time.
I take my cat once a year so he can get his medication refills. Today, I arrived 20 minutes before my pet's appointment to check in, and was told I would be called back shortly. I waited 15 minutes past the appointment time, and nobody even bothered to check on me. I went up and asked what was going on, and was told they were running very behind. I had to leave without completing my appointment as I had other obligations. I'm out 2 hours of my time and a quarter tank of gas, without prescription refills for my cat. I told them not to bother rescheduling me - this was the last straw, and I'm taking my business elsewhere.
Thankfully, I was able to make a next-day appointment at a different vet significantly closer to home where I have been taking my dog. This vet respects my time, and doesn't regularly run behind on their schedule (and lets you know if they are running behind). I should have made the switch sooner but decided to give Pet Doctor one more chance since the cat was already established there. That was dumb of me. Learn from my mistake. Go elsewhere for your pet care and save yourself the headache and gas.

Kind staff, clean facility, reason prices. Took my 6 month yr old to get a skin infection check up, got my meds in house, hassle free. Informative vet, and the assistant was kind and gentle even offered a treat at the end of the visit. Would definitely come back.
