I brought my dog in after he suddenly appeared to be in pain and was having significant difficulty walking. I returned to Banfield multiple times, and Dr. Mahantia prescribed different pain medications at each visit. Eventually, she told me there was nothing more she could do and that he would need to see a specialist, starting with a neurologist because she believed the issue was neurological. I asked what supported that, because seeing multiple specialists can become very expensive ---we are essentially starting with a list of possibilities? She became visibly upset with me, and sent me away with my boy in extreme pain. That weekend, my dog could barely walk, so I rushed him to VEG. Without even needing an X-ray, they determined that he had a slipped disc in his back. They gave him a pain injection and the appropriate pain medication, and he improved almost immediately. Unfortunately, my experience confirmed many of the concerns mentioned in other reviews. I found Dr. Mahantia to be rude and dismissive, and I was disappointed by the guesswork and lack of compassion for a pet clearly in significant pain. I continued to bring my boy to Banfield due to the OWP, -- which I had for many years. I will not renew my plan when it expires and would not return or recommend her based on my experience. However, I would like to recognize the staff who have been amazing.

I have been a member of Banfield vet plans for almost 30 years and the Ahwatukee Banfield has gone downhill since Jarod Butler (who was very kind and caring and always knew my pets ) left. They rotate vets constantly since then and I have had appointments canceled when I show up because no vet showed up. Yesterday I took both my dogs in for routine teeth cleaning that is on their plan. They had 7:30 and 7:45am appointments and I dropped them off and they would call when done. They never did call until later afternoon and said one was done the other was getting in now. Finally picked them up at around 4pm and they were both pretty drugged out yet. Upon getting home I found my Toy Shih Tzus arm was bleeding and leaking all over everything. They never left a bandage on the site like they normally do. Olive started crying and limping on her back left leg. As the night progressed the leg got worse and she could not even put any pressure on it. I had to lay with her all night and keep her calm and carry her out for bathroom breaks. At first I thought it was affects from the anestesia but it just kept getting worse. I immediately took both of them in and asked what they did to her as there was NOTHING wrong with her going in and she JUST had a complete physical a few weeks ago and was just fine. The vet that did the procedure yesterday was there Dr. Sri Mahitha Gudavalli and we and two vet techs discussed why my dogs arm was bleeding and didnt have a bandage on them as usual and the vet kept saying they dont do that and I said you are wrong and when I left guess what?? Yes dogs came out from in back WITH the bandage! We also discussed what happened to Olive that she goes in with nothing wrong to being in pain and cant walk on her leg that was not the one that got the IV. She looked her over and said she is fine but doesnt see anything and I would have to pay $400-$500 for an X-Ray. I feel THEY should do it for free since THEY did something to her while there. I also had to ask them for some pain meds as she didnt offer any and clearly she is experiencing some pain. I am going to call corportate and the Better Business Bureau as this is not acceptable to not take responsiblity for something whatever it was occurred there. I am also requesting out of the last payments of the medical plans as I no longer trust this place with that vet. I definitely canceled the auto renewal on them. On top of it every time I do end up with her she never gets my dogs sex right. Its not hard to tell one has a pole and the other not! Plus the sex is in the chart! I should have gone with my gut feeling when they started rotating vets as it surely is a way different experience. I want my vet to know my pets and would treat them as if they were their own. I am sad and frustrated.

I am very disappointed with the care my dog has received. I’ve brought him in three times, paid for multiple exams and tests, and still don’t have a clear diagnosis for his worsening cough. The vet suspected bronchitis, but the prescription I was given couldn’t even be filled. I’ve been going back and forth with the hospital to get it corrected, and meanwhile my dog continues to get worse. The lack of urgency, communication, and concern has been extremely frustrating. I also have a care plan through this hospital, but I’ll be canceling it. I expected much better care for my pet.

They couldn't find our appointment for our dog's spaying because of a recent system change. One girl was very rude and told us we didn't have an appointment and they weren't going to do the surgery that day. She was extremely rude and unfriendly. However we had arranged our schedules and did several preparations for her surgery to happen in that day. We insisted the honor our appointment. After much back and forth they checked with the Dr and she agreed to do the surgery. The surgery went well and recovery is going well. However the rude girl needs to be written up or fired for her behavior.

Be very careful who you trust with your dogs. We Trusted Banfield over 2 decades. Our Doodles went in for their yearly teeth cleaning, and we almost lost one of them. Sri Mahitha GUDAVALLI at Banfield Ahwatukee was our boys doctor on Tuesday July 14, 2026 11 hours later they told us our dogs were done. We picked them up. They said they did great. We didn’t receive any aftercare instructions or records. They became extremely lethargic, massive, massive diarrhea, Constant throwing up, Zero eating or drinking for days. Ended up, asking for their medical records found out they were double vaccinated against our wishes. They were given STRICT ORDERS NOT TO VACCINATE !!!!! Ended up in the ER days later. Multiple attempts going to Banfield trying to chat with their doctor and she refused to come out and confront us. We then decided to file a formal complaint With Arizona State Veterinary Medical Board. We have contacted Banfield corporate office to register a complaint and cancel our wellness plan. They are trying to make us pay $1000 to get out of our contract even due to their negligence !!!! Not once did Corporate ask how our dogs were doing ! Be very, very careful who you trust with your dogs. Take them to a place where they will accept responsibility and accountability We are currently be looking for a new veterinarian that we trust for our dogs.
