I have always use PETCO for 2ys with no issues. We just move here from California. The groomer was Madison . Took our girl for a trim and her chest had two bald spots one each side when I got her back , It was not noticeable until she stood on her four legs and my daughter pointed it out. I was devastated. This has never happened to her . She came back really depressed, normally Kelli in Cali takes really good care of her :( when I walk in I got an aggressive feeling from the groomer. That should have been my warning sign . I loved going to PETCO but I don’t think I’ll be back unless we visit Kelli in Cali.
Great experience at Petco! They did an amazing job grooming my two dogs, Squirt & Piper. They both came home looking great, smelling fresh, and happy. The staff was friendly and took great care of them. Thank you for the excellent service!

as a person with disAbility is was difficult to get the staff to understand the law that requires an accommodation of assistance. I did get the accommodation required/requested but it required me to go to corporate and explain myself to the store when asked to whom did I speak. corporate said they would e mail the district manager who would contact the store GM, David, and he would communicate with grooming. I have no idea if anyone actually did their job but I did get the accommodation and I will ensure it will not be an issue in the future.

I had an extremely disappointing experience at Petco Grooming today and will never be returning.
I brought in my two dogs (a Shih Tzu and a Goldendoodle) for a scheduled grooming appointment, and from the moment we walked in, the groomer, Madison, had a negative and rude attitude. Instead of asking what I wanted done, she immediately told me my Shih Tzu “needed” to be shaved down with a 10 blade because he was matted — which is simply not true. He has never been matted, has never had irritated or bruised skin, and is regularly groomed.
She then began pointing out that his nails were “long and curved” and needed to be buffed when they were not overgrown at all. It felt like she was trying to upsell unnecessary services before even discussing my preferences.
The situation escalated when I told her I wanted him cut with a 5 or 7 blade instead of a 10. She continued insisting he was matted and said she’s had years of experience, then came around the front counter with a metal comb to “prove it.” She aggressively tried to force the comb through the curls on his paws and dug it into his chest to make a point, which clearly hurt him. She then claimed he was trying to bite her — which is completely out of character for him, as he has never bitten anyone in his life.
At that point, I decided I was not comfortable leaving my dogs in her care and left immediately.
I ended up taking him to Diamonds in the Ruff Pet Grooming down the street, and the difference was night and day. They were kind, professional, asked what I wanted done, and handled him gently. He was calm the entire time and didn’t shake at all — which says everything. When I picked him up, they told me he did great, and the grooming looked amazing.
This was a completely unprofessional and uncomfortable experience at Petco. I would not trust Madison with my pets.
