  Update: The manager has yet to call me and customer service tells me they can’t help, the store needs to handle it. I tried calling several times and the phone just rang over and over. PetCo advertises a 100% Satisfaction guarantee yet will do little to nothing to make sure that it’s honored. As the customer, I should not be the one facilitating a resolution. I recently brought my dog in for a bath service at Petco in Flagstaff, and I was honestly very disappointed with the results. I have a 13-pound poodle mix and regularly use the Petco grooming salon in Mesa, where they consistently do an excellent job, so I know what to expect from this service. After picking him up, it was difficult to tell that much had been been done beyond getting him wet. His paws were still visibly gray and dirty, his coat didn’t appear brushed out, and there wasn’t even the clean scent that usually comes with a professional bath. Overall, he looked nearly the same as when I dropped him off. What made this especially disappointing is that my dog gets nervous during grooming appointments. He spent nearly three hours there, and I felt guilty putting him through that stress only to receive such underwhelming results. For a basic bath and tidy service, I expect my dog to come back clean, fresh, brushed, and noticeably groomed. The difference between this experience and the care we receive at the Mesa Petco location was significant. I understand that every salon has different staff, but the quality of service should be more consistent. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I don’t feel I received the level of care or value I expected and would not return to this location for grooming services.

  If you’re planning on ordering from the app for a pickup, don’t!! It’s a joke. It takes hours and the staff is rude. They always say they are running behind then get the order wrong. Has happened three times in a row.

  This is my neighborhood pet store. Shopping here lately makes me wonder if I live in the wrong neighborhood. Before I say anything else, the people who work here are wonderful and caring. Our dog grooming experiences have all been outstanding. 5 stars for staff and grooming services. But look: this is store is always a mess. It’s hard to move around it in a cart because there and pallets and piles of unstocked merchandise everywhere at 3.30pm on a Saturday. They often don’t have the brand, size, or variety of product I’m looking for. Or I should say, it often isn’t in the shelf—I’ll bet it’s just waiting to get put out. There often isn’t enough staff to help. We queue up at the register so that the girl helping explain fish or snakes or whatever can finish what she’s doing and head over to ring us up. I think our community, our pet owners, and the lovely folks who work at this Petco deserve a better shopping environment. I’m writing this in the hopes that someone can change this place around. In the meantime, I’m heading to PetSmart.
