Although we have been a paid vital care rewards member for years, this was our first visit. We were unable to get into our vet so I scheduled an appointment with Vetco. I strongly suggest calling as the hours on google were not correct. Anyway, I want to start with the positives. We were able to get a same day appointment, which was amazing as I don't think they are open daily. The staff was also fantastic. Dr Barnes was compassionate, thorough and flexible. I felt like my concerns were heard and respected and they took the time to help me understand my dog's diagnosis and treatment plan. The vet techs were also very kind and personable. The medications prescribed for my dog have made a massive difference in her newly diagnosed chronic condition. So now the negatives, which I fully understand are 100% out of the control of the staff. THE PRICING. Vetco is advertised as being competitively priced w/ affordable vaccines. I had brought my vet records with in case they were needed. The vaccine prices at Vetco were significantly higher than my regular vet. They also have "packages" of bundled services that I learned about on a plexiglass display in the exam room after I had signed the estimate for services. The senior dog package was basically half of the estimate I was quoted and came with additional testing and services. The staff was kind enough to explain that the packages are usually considered preventative and scheduled in advance (not purchased in relation to an illness or injury) and the labs are sent out v done in house, which is why they are cheaper. I get that, I truly do, but the package included everything that had been itemized for me and then some. They were kind enough to adjust the price, taking my charges from over $800 to $399. Again, fully aware that the staff does not set the prices nor the rules, Petco/Vetco does. There was also pure shock with the cost difference of the prescriptions being filled in office v online through a pet pharmacy. Dr Barnes did provide me with written prescriptions to get filled at the pharmacy of my choice so I did a small order through the Vetco office so my dog would have meds while we awaited the online order, which was delayed twice. So yes, I understand you are paying a higher price not only for the convenience but also because the vet doesn't buy in mass quantities like an online pharmacy. A week supply of her medications filled in office was $160. A months supply of the same meds online was $60 reduced to $42 because of autoship. Again, not the staff's fault and outside of their control, but come on Vetco/Petco....do better.

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the compassionate care I received for my fur-baby Lucy. Dr. Barnes and her kind-hearted assistant (I cant remember her name) are the dynamic duo; two knowledgeable women who bring their hearts to work ❤️.
