Mina in the Grooming department is AMAZING. She took care of my senior Golden Retriever, Doug, and I honestly could not be happier with the experience.
Anyone with an older dog knows how important it is for them to feel safe and comfortable, and when I picked Doug up, he was happy, relaxed, and in such good spirits. That alone meant everything to me. The cherry on top was that he looked 5 years younger and had a spring in his step.
Mina went above and beyond with the little details too, she even trimmed in front of his ears to help improve airflow and keep him more comfortable. You can tell she genuinely cares about the dogs she works with, not just the grooming itself.
Doug looked incredible, felt great, and was treated with so much kindness and patience. 10/10 experience. We will absolutely be back to see Mina every time!
The first two images provided below show how my dog looked immediately after her grooming appointment with Petco Grooming. The last three images of my dog are the reference photos I provided, which also reflect how her hair is typically cut and maintained.
I want to start by saying that every staff member I interacted with was polite, respectful, and courteous. I felt welcomed when I arrived, and they were gentle and kind toward my dog, which I deeply appreciated.
When I checked in for grooming, I provided the groomer with reference photos (the last three images included in this review) and clearly requested that her body and face be trimmed to the same length, with her tail left longer. Keeping her face the same length as her body is important for hygiene, as longer hair around her mouth and eyes becomes difficult to keep clean and maintain. I also requested a bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, and teeth cleaning.
When I returned to pick her up, I immediately noticed that her body had been shaved much shorter than the reference photos, while the hair around her face, head, and ears was left significantly longer than the rest of her body.
In addition, the overall cut was uneven in places—there were longer patches on her stomach that appeared to have been missed, and the hair around her ears was not blended evenly.
Upon seeing her, I politely asked about adjusting the haircut. I asked if they had any availability later that day or sometime that week, as I wasn’t expecting an immediate fix. The groomer offered to address it right then, which I was thankful for. After a brief attempt, there was little noticeable change, and her face, head, and ears remained noticeably longer than her body.
They did mention that she does not like her face being touched, which I had already communicated beforehand. She is not aggressive, just a bit squirmy, and I have not had previous issues with groomers being able to trim her face and body evenly.
I was upfront about her being sensitive with her face and nails, and I was reassured multiple times—both before scheduling and at check-in—that this would not be an issue and that the groomers were experienced. Given that, I expected the result to reflect what was discussed. I wish there had been clearer communication beforehand if the requested style could not be completed, as I would have taken her elsewhere.
When I went to pay, I was initially charged for two haircuts. After noticing this in the parking lot, I called, returned, and they corrected the mistake and refunded the extra charge promptly. In total, I paid $109.99 for the grooming services.
While I am thankful for the staff’s kindness and their gentleness with my dog, I was disappointed with the quality of the haircut itself. Her body appeared clean, but she still had visible eye discharge and tear staining around her face after the grooming, which I did not expect following a full bathing service.
As a result, I will be seeking a follow-up appointment elsewhere to have her face and coat corrected.
I understand that hair grows back, but this was a paid service, and the outcome did not align with what was clearly discussed and shown.
The receipt image shows the initial double charge and the subsequent refund.
I have redacted the groomer’s name for privacy.
