  I recently went to Petco after a difficult visit to the vet where I learned my cat is going to need to be put down soon. I was distraught and looking for some specific items to make her last few weeks with me as comfortable and easy as possible. The general manager of the store and one of the dog trainers spoke to me with patience and compassion, personally walked me around the store to find all of the items I might need, hugged me, pet my dog, and helped load everything into my car. They even offered to refund an item I had recently purchased in the wrong size. Truth be told I have always received EXCELLENT service at this store, from the dog trainers, to the groomers, to the cashiers. The people who work there clearly care about animals, are knowledgeable and customer service oriented. You don't always expect this kind of hands on, personalized attention at a big box store, but everyone I have ever talked to there has made it felt like a neighborhood spot. I hope the GM gets recognized for the care she puts into her store, staff and customers.

  Alex is extremely patient and knowledgeable to help my little one to pick hermit crabs and setting up the habitat for them. Couldn’t get this done without him!

  I hesitated to write this, but feel it needs to be said. Last Thursday, while in the grooming area, I witnessed the general manager, Maria, speaking to associates in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner. It was uncomfortable to witness as a customer and created a negative atmosphere in the store. I tried to hold off on posting, but the behavior I saw was concerning. Leadership should treat staff with respect, and unfortunately that was not my experience here. I hope Petco takes situations like this seriously and works toward creating a more respectful environment for both employees and customers.

  Did you know that Petco has a proprietary veterinary clinic? We joined mainly because we needed to get in to see a vet quickly and most vets have a waiting list. At Petco, we got right in. They gave us a diagnosis in 3 days after they affirmed what they saw on the x-rays. The young doctor was very knowledgable and her insight was way beyond her years. We were able to formulate a plan for quality of life and make arrangements that could have been impossible to deal with much more gracefully being the doctor took the perfect tone with us -- facing reality and dealing with the eventual loss of our beloved Chase in the most positive light.   We use this store pretty regularly. Staff are nice. We've occasionally had problems with items we wanted not being in stock but this was the exception. Generally pleasant experience.
