I had a very concerning experience with my dog Charlie’s appointment on April 18th at 5 PM.
Before anything began, I clearly informed staff that Charlie is a nervous but non-aggressive dog who does not do well with multiple people in his face. This was ignored.
His weight was not properly taken—the scale hadn’t settled, yet staff guessed 80 lbs when it was visibly closer to his normal ~73 lbs.
Charlie was taken to the back despite being uncomfortable going without me. After waiting over 20 minutes, I heard him barking repeatedly—something he has never done at any prior vet visit.
Dr. Rae Dishinger entered without introducing herself and immediately labeled my dog “aggressive” multiple times. Charlie has never bitten or attempted to bite anyone. He was returned to me wearing a muzzle, which has never been necessary before.
What’s most concerning is that both the assistant and Dr. Dishinger later admitted Charlie was calm and relaxed when with me and my mother. The assistant also confirmed that multiple staff members were in his face in the back—exactly what I had asked them not to do.
During the exam, I calmly and gently guided the assistant out of Charlie’s face to his side to help keep him comfortable. This was not aggressive behavior on my part, yet it was never acknowledged.
The exam itself was not even completed until we questioned it. Basic checks like teeth, ears, and eyes were initially skipped. Despite Charlie being calm in the room, sedation was repeatedly pushed.
Communication throughout the visit was poor and unprofessional:
* No proper introduction from the veterinarian
* No transparency about what was happening in the back
* Incomplete exam without explanation
* Medication incorrectly provided as a 1-month supply without discussion
After leaving, I received a voicemail from management stating my dog would not be seen again unless sedated—something never clearly communicated during the visit.
Charlie showed fear, not aggression. My concerns were ignored, and my dog was handled in a way that escalated his stress instead of managing it.
I will not be returning and would not trust this clinic with my pet’s care.

Visited Vetco Total Care to get my dog up to date on his vaccines and solve some tummy issues. The staff who took care of us, Dr. Rainey Biler and Leah, were awesome! Answered all of my questions and were tremendous with my pet Petey. Very positive atmosphere all around. Will be retuning for any future vet services!
