    ⭐ Review: Petco Southeast Military & Austin Hwy – An Absolute Embarrassment of a Store These two Petco locations are hands-down the most incompetent, unorganized, and clueless stores I’ve ever dealt with. I bought 10 fish from the Southeast Military location, and when several died, I got treated like I was asking for a favor instead of following their own 30-day guarantee. The Southeast Military employee had me re-enter my phone number over and over because she couldn’t figure out their system, and then somehow still managed to not save the transaction. Their mistake — their screwup — and guess what? I was the one punished for it. Austin Hwy is no better. They hid behind “we can’t see the transaction” like it’s a magic shield that excuses laziness. Instead of helping, they dumped the problem back on Southeast Military like a hot potato because apparently neither location wants to take responsibility for anything. I even called Southeast Military ahead of time and was told they would honor the guarantee the next day. I drive 25 minutes there and 25 minutes back — for absolutely nothing. Suddenly no one can do anything. Suddenly policies don’t exist. Suddenly everyone is confused. What a shock. Both stores act like the “guarantee” is optional depending on whether they feel like working that day. The level of unprofessionalism, attitude, and straight-up laziness is unreal. If the staff can’t operate their own register system, can’t honor their own guarantee, and can’t stay consistent from one day to the next, maybe they shouldn’t be selling fish in the first place. Save yourself the headache — these locations are a waste of time, money, and oxygen.

    We took our dog to get groomed, showed the groomer a pic, and she said confidently, " oh yes the teddy bear cut we can do that!" My husband goes to get her 2.5 hours later brings her home and I started crying! They scalped her! Her ears not fluffy nor her face instead shaved to nothing! She is miniature golden doodle and she looks awful! No ficing it! We call and say we want to 100% guarantee enviked since they did such a horrible embarrassing job. They tell us the can only give us 25% back because we said nothing at pick up! Show me in your guarantee in any fine print that states that? The woman manager so was so rude to my husband and the man manager never even called back! Disgrace!

    Samantha was scheduled to be the groomer today. She made it the worst experience I’ve ever had at any petco. I don’t trust her with the CARE of my dog nor do I trust that she will complete the entire package that was purchased. First and foremost above the attitude and everything else when she was taking my dog through the door, my dog was scared and instead of being patient and trying to gain her trust, she DRAGGED her across the floor with the LEASH TIGHT AROUND HER NECK. I don’t know about you but that’s not how I want my dog treated EVER. The other complaints I have about her are regarding her customer service skills, she seems to be lacking in them. She asked me so we’re just getting a bath and nails done correct? I had requested the $40 package. So I asked her is that all that includes? She said yes. I looked it up online because I had remembered there being more to it… I asked her if she would be brushed and she said yes. Then I asked her if the glands would be done? She replied with attitude - yeah I can do that. So immediately you’ve lost my trust that you’re going to be performing the tasks that come with package simply because you either don’t want to or you’re lazy. The attitude for asking if that would be done was just the cherry on top. I had mentioned to her that my dog is a stray rescue from the shelter and that she gets very scared easily so if they could please not do the blow drying and just towel dry her off. I mentioned that I’m aware that she’ll still be a little damp, but I was okay with that because she would dry off on the way home. She said okay and went into the dog grooming area. Then she came back out and reiterated “so you don’t want her to be blow dried or kennel dried?” I said no and just explained again that I don’t want to put any unnecessary added stress on my dog. Instead of just agreeing she went a step further to look up our past visit. Which stated no blow drier just kennel dry. And said “well it says here that she can be kennel dried” which now I’m confused as to why you are going back and fourth with me, because I just replied again - I know that it states that in the chart but she was very scared last time and I just want to make it easier on her. And she said okay. (Also I had already stated that on the pre-checkin form online). So then we move on from that and she prints the paper that listed the places I needed to initial and I had asked her where to initial for one of the boxes because it was checked and she told me next to the highlighted area in a rude manner. I just again shook it off and continued the process. She told me “okay give us three hours.” To which I replied “oh three hours? Is that…” she cut me off and said that’s our standard wait time. So I said “I know I was just wondering is there a lot of dogs before her or is it just…” she cut me off again and said I have a dog in front of her and behind her. And at this point I don’t understand why she is being so rude and snapping at me when I’m just asking a few questions calmly. If she had let me finish speaking I would have told her it’s fine i was just trying to get an idea of what her place in line was so that I could know what I had time to do in the area since I don’t live very close to the location. But at this point I said to her I don’t understand I feel like you are being very short with me? And she snapped and said I’m not trying to be. I don’t get what the issue was maybe she was having a bad day or hates her job because every single other person I interacted with before and after her were super friendly. I asked to switch groomers because I didn’t want her handling my dog after all that transpired. I mean who would? Unfortunately it only took one rotten apple in the bunch for me to decide I will not be going back to location.

    I went to Petco for a large dog bed and harness. To my great pleasure, the bed was on sale! Then I met a dog groomer who highly recommended her services. I also met a gentleman named Tyler who is so knowledgeable in dog behavior and training. I also found out there is a veterinarian for appointments. I have 2 dogs. I got everything I needed and more. I will return for grooming services and maybe vet visits. Totally impressed w this store!
