Pointe 183 Animal Hospital & Urgent Care provides wellness care, spay and neuter services, vaccines, pet dentistry, specialty surgeries, urgent care, and boarding services to the Leander, TX area.
I have not personally visited this hospital but they are one of the ONLY places that responded to me in the Georgetown/Leander/Liberty Hill area on a weekend when I was trying to find a lost dog his home. It gave me a lot of comfort to know they care - So 5 stars from me! They were so kind and showed that they genuinely care.

I can’t say enough good things about this clinic. Our dog has been struggling since August with serious health issues that weren’t being properly addressed by another clinic. We finally made the decision to get a second opinion and the doctors here at Pointe 183 heard us, ran the right testing, and immediately got him started on the right treatment plan. After months of struggling and misery, he’s finally healing and in such great spirits. We couldn’t be more thankful and grateful for the team here.

I had an extremely upsetting and unacceptable experience at this veterinary clinic, and I will never be returning.
I brought my dog in for a specific procedure and was overcharged and had the procedure changed without my clear consent. At no point was I properly informed or given the opportunity to approve what was done. I was in for a spay and I told them I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure my dog is pregnant they told me “that sometimes after dogs first heat they’re body think they’re pregnant whenever they really aren’t” I told them specifically if they found out my dog was pregnant by any chance to let me know, they did NOT. And terminated 7 puppies from my dog. That alone is enough to lose trust but it gets worse.
After the visit, my dog began showing serious hip issues that she did not have before. Not only that but after the procedure she was leaving blood streaks everywhere days after it happened. My friend also came to the same place, got a spayed procedure and her dog has a HORRIBLE infection that looks like burn holes. If I was able to post pictures I would. DO NOT COME HERE.

I cannot say enough good things about this vet clinic. From start to finish, the care has been exceptional. Testing and analysis always come back incredibly quickly, which gives me so much peace of mind, and everything is explained clearly and thoughtfully.
What truly sets this clinic apart, though, is the personalized care. Every visit feels tailored to my dogs—not rushed, not transactional. The team genuinely cares about my dogs as individuals, and it shows in every interaction.
You can feel that the people here love what they do and truly love animals. Knowing my dogs are in the hands of such knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive professionals means everything to me. I’m so grateful to have found a clinic I trust completely.

I love this vet and their boarding services!!!
I have a reactive dog who doesn't do well with men or new people unless properly introduced which makes finding boarding options very difficult. When I found Pointe 183 I explained to them all of my dogs needs and they were confident they could watch my dog and Kee him at ease. I felt so comfortable leaving him with them (even though it's hard for me to be apart from my dog). The boarding prices were great and came with a bath! Sure beat any of the rover options I had!
The staff was so friendly and sent me so many pics and everyone seemed to really love my dog (Piggy). I have boarded with them multiple times since and the front desk staff lights up when they hear Piggy is coming back for a stay and it makes me really happy :)
It is so nice to have a place I trust to watch my dog and where he gets so much attention and care (and I'm not breaking the bank!)
Frequently Asked Questions About Pointe 183 Animal Hospital & Urgent Care
My pet ate something they weren't supposed to. What should I do?
Inducing vomiting in pets may seem like a quick solution when they ingest foreign objects, but it can sometimes be dangerous. This procedure can lead to trauma or irritation of the esophagus, especially if the ingested material is sharp or includes hazardous items like batteries. It’s crucial to consult your veterinarian immediately if your pet consumes a foreign object. In many cases, we can safely induce vomiting using injectable medication, minimizing the risk of complications such as stomach ulcers. However, there are situations where surgical intervention may be necessary to remove the foreign object. Always prioritize your pet's safety by seeking professional guidance in these scenarios.
Why do you recommend dental cleanings so often?
Dental cleanings are essential for maintaining your pet's overall health and well-being. Starting annual cleanings at a young adult age can significantly help prevent serious medical issues related to dental disease, such as infections and organ damage. Regular dental care not only keeps your pet’s teeth and gums healthy but also saves you money in the long run. By addressing dental issues early, we can avoid complicated and costly extractions down the line. Invest in your pet's health today with routine dental cleanings and ensure they enjoy a happy, healthy life for years to come!
What kind of dog/cat food do you recommend?
Recent research has raised concerns about the safety of grain-free diets for pets, linking them to an increased risk of Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a serious heart condition. To ensure your furry friend receives the best nutrition, we do not recommend grain-free options. Instead, we advocate for trusted brands like Hill's Science Diet, Royal Canin, and Purina. These brands are backed by veterinary research and are specifically formulated to meet the nutritional needs of pets. They also offer specialized diets tailored to address various medical conditions, ensuring your pet stays healthy and happy. Choose wisely for your pet’s diet and prioritize their long-term health with these reputable options!
Why do you require a fecal test annually?
At Pointe 183 Animal Hospital & Urgent Care, we require annual fecal screenings for the following reasons: Early detection: Many parasites don't show obvious symptoms, making early detection crucial. Fecal testing can identify these hidden threats before they cause serious health issues. Zoonotic risks: Some intestinal parasites, like roundworms and hookworms, can be transmitted to humans. Protecting your pet also protects your loved ones. Preventative care: Early treatment can prevent complications and improve your pet's overall health and well-being.
