I brought my dog in for evaluation and treatment of a dog bite. During the visit, I was informed the wound was infected. Treatment provided at that time consisted of prescribed antibiotics and pain medication. No wound flushing, debridement, or deeper intervention was performed. Within three days, my dog’s condition worsened. After further evaluation by another veterinary provider, I was advised that the infection had progressed and that a surgical procedure was required to remove nonviable tissue and properly flush the wound. I am disappointed with the level of care provided during the initial visit, as the progression resulted in additional procedures, increased costs, and prolonged discomfort for my dog.

This was my first visit to Vetco/Petco for annual check-ups for my two dogs. I had an appointment. The vet tech wasn't friendly, and it was clear she didn't want to be at work and didn't seem to like animals/pets. The vet herself took three attempts to draw a single vial of blood for a simple heartworm test from my oldest dog, a ten-year-old pricking both of her legs, and then two attempts (one from each leg) with my second dog. I noticed and said something about this to the vet, but she laughed it off claiming she'd made only two attempts rather than three even though I was observing her. There were three or perhaps four exam rooms, but I was still made to wait outside or "encouraged to shop" while the results of the heartworm tests were read, even though my dogs were uncomfortable by the experience of being repeatedly pricked in both legs for blood. The vet and tech claimed the room I was in was needed for the next exam while at least two other rooms remained empty. In the end, after 45 minutes, I got only one set of prescriptions and was made to wait another 30 minutes for the correct prescriptions to be given to me. It was not a good experience.

This is a scam. Beware. I called to make an appointment because I had a medical concern about my dog. Got the appointment. And I showed up on time. The “contractor” vet (as she referred to herself. I am just eh contractor) arrived 30 minutes late. Long line of people waiting in her. While I waited. I was offered vaccine packages. Which is fine. That is business. I told I would take one. More expensive than other option but ok. I was there already. They tell me I need heart worm test for a refill on prescription. Ok. Expensive. But let’s get it done. When it is finally my turn 40 mins after my appointment. And they are running the blood test. I ask the doctor about the medical concern I brought her in the first place. She says: o yeah. You have to go to hospital to look at that. We just do vaccines here. So they booked me for something I did not ask for. They lied on what they do. And then she shows up 30 mins late. And gives me this careless answer. I paid for the test. And did not wait for the result. They can keep it. Horrible horrible place. Cdncelling my Petco membership for my 5 dogs.

Still waiting for vaccination documents because the printer was broken and couldn’t print them, appointment was at 4:35 didn’t get called until well after 5pm, overall vet service wasn’t bad just much more expensive than I remember for my last puppy I got 2 years ago around the same age
