I should have trusted the reviews, but I was desperate to get my dog, Jonah, seen for his itchy skin infection before the weekend. I booked Jonah’s appointment Thursday night for an in-person visit on Friday. Then, Friday morning I received a call saying that the visit would be a “drop off” visit. Having no other option, I decided to proceed with this “drop-off” visit. After I dropped Jonah off, I waited for 2 hours with no update. I decided to call and they said Jonah hadn’t even been seen and that there were still several dogs waiting in front of him. I felt bad leaving Jonah there for so long, probably locked up in a kennel. I immediately went to pick him up. Thankfully his regular vet had an opening on Monday morning. I will never be returning to this place.

My experience echoes Marlene's to a T. The staff here have zero answers and lots of attitude. I have experienced such great care in both Portland and San Diego locations. This place was miserable, unhelpful, uncaring and only focused on generating revenue for themselves if my experience is any indicator.

This is one of the worst Banfields I’ve ever been to. We moved from Florida and the experience we had with our last location was like night and day. I’m not sure if it’s because this location has a higher traffic volume but they made us feel like our dogs were just a number rather than patients. Every single time we brought them in we were spending $300-$500 MINIMUM. They can never figure out what was wrong with our dogs the FIRST time around. It always felt like nobody knew what they were doing, especially the techs. Which was very annoying because speaking with the actual vet is always a hassle. When we’d ask the techs questions they would sound/look confused and say “ I’m not sure if you’d like I can speak with the vet and call you back. Or I can schedule a consultation so you can come in and speak with the vet”… After already bringing my pet in and having our dog there for hours.. so we’d end up having to bring our dogs in for another “Consultation” just so we can speak to the vet, who already saw them because the tech’s were not able to answer our questions and would never call us back… and when we’d pick up our dogs after them being there for hours it was always like we were being thrown the medication, bombarded with information, then rushed out. If you even try to ask the front desk people questions your met with blank stares and somewhat of an attitude in my opinion. We always had to do our own research and share with Banfield what we thought was wrong with our dogs so they could properly diagnose. Unfortunately our dog became very very sick at the beginning of the year. After months and month of taking him in, rounds & rounds of tests, thousands of dollars spent, emotional damage of having to see our dog decline so fast, lots of back and forth from techs & vets…. We unfortunately had to let him go after they prescribed him a medication that he had a negative reaction to after two days of taking… They did warn us it could happen, but after so long of him struggling we were hopeful it would help. Unfortunately, it was too late and he was too weak. We’re not blaming them for his loss but we feel the lack of communication, lack of care, & lack of knowledge led him and us to suffering from many many months. We would never recommend this location and honestly after this experience, Banfield to anyone. Last thing we’d like to add is that Dr. Heath is one of the most unprofessional and insensitive vets we’ve ever had to work with.

Service is absolutely horrible here. First off I have the wellness plan that includes Simparico medication. The Banfield in Alexandria was out of it and I moved back to Houston afterwards. They refused to fill it because “it came from their inventory” but yall still took my money. My payment doesn’t distinguish whose inventory it comes from when I pay. Secondly, they left my female rescue dog in a kennel too small and in her own poop. They didn’t attempt to clean her or at least give her a space to go use the restroom or anything. It was dried into her fur and I had to wash her when I got home after wiping what I could off with an old tshirt and some water at my truck. Lastly, they didn’t provide ANY report. What did you do? If anything. I’ve requested it off the app and it keeps saying pending so I have no record that’s yall actually provided services requested for either of my dogs. If I want to board them I have no proof of updates vaccines. There was a random report uploaded, mostly saying unknown. I’m assuming they did a blood test but never told me the results and some things say abnormal for both of my dogs but again, no full medical report and no one had the time or anything to let me know if it’s something I should be concerned about. I’ve canceled my auto renewal on the wellness plan, I refuse to allow Banfield to EVER see my dogs again. I wish it would immediately cancel since yall stole $200 worth of medication from me. This location doesn’t care the slightest about you or your pet and Banfield as a whole doesn’t either. I emailed their corporate who I have yet to even hear from. Banfield is just a money grab. If you care about your pets, go elsewhere. Just go anywhere except Banfield unless you want your money stolen and your pet mistreated. Believe these bad reviews because they’re absolutely correct, not an isolated incident.
