I’ve been using Society Pet sitter for in home pet sitting for a couple years and I’ve consistently had quick communication and frequent updates from all the sitters I’ve worked with. They’ve even helped multiple times with last minute adds or when we’ve had flight delays.

The office employees work hard to coordinate visit times and to set you up with an alternate sitter if your primary is unavailable when you need visits.
However, the level of service your pets will get can vary wildly across sitters. I believe that it’s because there is lack of standardization for quality of care that is set by the service for the sitters, and ambiguity in what clients can reasonably expect from sitters. I would give 5 stars for the great sitters, but I’ve experienced really nerve wracking days being hundreds of miles from home when I’ve had sitters at my house who clearly do not follow the care instructions I explicitly communicated for my dogs across in person sitter meet and greets, written copies of all my instructions, (I.e. amount of food, length of walks, etc) and consistent texts with the sitter group. I pay a lot of money (usually at least 30% of my total trip budget, sometimes more than I pay to lodge myself) to keep my dogs cared for when I’m on vacation, and I add gratuity on top of that, so I expect service concomitant with the pricing.
That being said - shout out to Jade and Nancy as the best sitters I have ever had for my dogs. They go above and beyond and my dogs LOVE them.

Essential Pet Supplies: Be Prepared for Your Pet's Care
To ensure your pet’s comfort and well-being while you’re away, it’s important to have a sufficient supply of essential pet items on hand. If you run out of supplies, we will be happy to pick them up for you and bill you accordingly. Here’s a checklist of supplies we recommend having available:
Food and Treats:
Ample Supply: Ensure you have enough pet food to last for the duration of your absence, including any special dietary items or prescription diets.
Treats: Keep a supply of your pet’s favorite treats to reward good behavior and provide enrichment.
Litter and Bedding:
Litter: If you have a cat, make sure you have enough litter to last throughout your time away. Keep extra bags or containers stored for easy access.
Bedding: For small pets like pocket pets or birds, ensure you have an adequate supply of bedding material or cage lining.
Medications and Supplies:
Medications: If your pet requires any medications or supplements, ensure you have a plentiful supply and clear instructions for administration.
First Aid Kit: Keep a pet-specific first aid kit stocked with essentials such as bandages, antiseptic wipes, and styptic powder for minor injuries.
Pet Safety in Extreme Temperatures: Our Walking Policy
At Society Pet Sitter, Inc., we prioritize the safety and well-being of your furry companions, especially during extreme weather conditions. Here’s how we handle dog walks during temperature extremes:
Heat Index Above 100 Degrees:
Limited Outdoor Activity: If the heat index exceeds 100 degrees Fahrenheit, we will limit outdoor activities for dogs. This includes short walks for dogs accustomed to being outdoors in high temperatures.
Precautionary Measures: We take precautionary measures to ensure your pet’s safety, such as providing ample shade, access to water, and monitoring for signs of overheating.
Severe Storms with Thunder and Lightning:
Safety Concerns: During strong storms accompanied by thunder and lightning, we prioritize your dog’s safety by avoiding outdoor walks. Loud noises and unpredictable weather can cause stress and anxiety in pets.
Indoor Time: Instead of walks, we will take your dog outside briefly for bathroom breaks and spend the remainder of the visit indoors, providing companionship and comfort.
Adjustments for Comfort:
Temperature Control: If the temperature in your home is too warm or cold for your pets, we will adjust the thermostat accordingly to ensure their comfort and well-being.
Continuous Monitoring and Communication:
Observation and Feedback: Our pet sitters are trained to monitor your pet’s behavior and well-being during extreme weather conditions. We provide feedback and updates to ensure you’re informed about your pet’s care.
Client Input and Preferences:
Client Preferences: We welcome your input and preferences regarding your dog’s outdoor activities during temperature extremes. Your pet’s comfort and safety are our top priorities, and we strive to accommodate your wishes whenever possible.
Maintaining Your Pet's Routine: Visit Timing Policy
At Society Pet Sitter, Inc., we understand the importance of maintaining your pet’s routine, including their feeding times, playtimes, and outdoor breaks. Here’s how we handle visit timing:
Prioritizing Your Pet’s Routine:
Consistency is Key: We strive to keep your pets on their regular routine to minimize disruption and ensure their comfort while you’re away.
Flexibility with Visit Times: While we aim to accommodate your requested visit times, we cannot guarantee exact times due to factors such as traffic, unexpected delays, and the needs of other clients.
Visit Timing Guidelines:
Approximate Timing: Visits are typically scheduled within a 1-2 hour window of time. This flexibility allows us to manage our schedule effectively while still providing timely care for your pets.
Daily Visits: For most clients, we schedule a minimum of two to three visits per day, spaced apart. This ensures your pets receive consistent attention and care throughout the day. We offer extended visits to have your pets enjoy longer companionship.
Priority Visits for Medication Needs:
Medication Considerations: If your pet requires time-sensitive medication administration, these visits will be given priority to ensure timely and accurate dosing.
Special Arrangements: If your pet has specific medication needs or requires additional visits for any reason, please let us know, and we’ll work with you to accommodate their needs.
Open Communication:
Stay Informed: We keep you informed of our visit schedule and any adjustments made to ensure transparency and peace of mind while you’re away.
Feedback and Adjustments: We welcome your feedback on visit timing and any adjustments needed to better meet your pet’s needs.
Key Security and Contingency Planning: Why We Request Two Sets of Keys
At Society Pet Sitter, Inc., we prioritize the safety and well-being of your pets, even in unexpected situations. Here’s why we request two sets of keys for your convenience and our contingency planning:
Ensuring Reliable Pet Care:
Emergency Preparedness: Occasionally, unforeseen circumstances may arise, such as a pet sitter’s key becoming lost or damaged. Having two sets of keys allows us to ensure uninterrupted care for your pets, no matter the situation.
Continuity of Service: With two sets of keys, we can guarantee that your pets will receive the care they need, regardless of any unexpected events that may occur during your absence.
Key Management and Security:
Secure Storage: One set of keys is securely stored in our office, ensuring they are always available in case of emergencies or last-minute scheduling changes.
Pet Sitter Access: The second set of keys is assigned to the designated pet sitter responsible for your pet’s care during your absence. This ensures they have convenient access to your home for scheduled visits.
Client Privacy and Security:
Confidentiality: Your privacy and security are important to us. Client keys are discreetly marked with your pet’s name and last name only, without including your address on the key tag.
