Doctor is very cold, not friendly at all, won’t so much as smile back at you which really threw me off, very cold with the pets too. Never followed up on a prescription he said he’d follow up on and he dismissed my concern about my dogs eyes and the next day her eyes were crusted over. Additionally, and possibly irrelevantly, the office is always sweltering hot, I had to step outside while I waited for my dog to be seen because I was so uncomfortably hot. I’ve been here 2 or 3 times already and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but honestly there’s just not much good to be said about this place, wish it were not the case. Front desk staff is nice enough though.
Also, I was looking at how the office or doctor replies to negative reviews, I imagine they/he is going to reply with some kind of passive insults or maybe even blatant ones based on what I’ve seen, I don’t believe that’s how a professional/business owner should behave. I don’t know, hopefully not, I’m just giving my genuine and honest opinion from my experiences at the office. Hopefully they actually take it as constructive criticism rather than something malicious.

Dr Kottenstette and family/staff have provided excellent care for my 2 dogs and 2 cats. They are convenient, accommodating, and go out of their way to make animals and people alike feel comfortable and safe. The care has been exemplary, albeit more expensive than some. These past 2 years I have had to seek less costly routine care for my pets , due to challenging economic conditions.

Easy and friendly! I scheduled a same day appointment, then when I arrived I did not have to wait and was in and out super fast! Pricing was transparent and reasonable.

I’m sharing this feedback based on an experience I had today with a client and their reactive dog. Unfortunately, the visit felt rushed and lacked compassion for both the dog and the owner. Rather than helping create a calmer environment for a stressed animal, the interaction felt focused primarily on processing payment and moving us through quickly.
The owner spent around $300 on prescription medication, yet there was little guidance offered about the dog’s overall well-being, behavioral considerations, or nutritional factors that could help address the underlying allergy concerns.
As a canine behaviorist who has worked with dogs for over 35 years, and someone who regularly collaborates with veterinarians, I believe veterinary care should consider the whole animal — both medical and behavioral. This was honestly one of the more underwhelming and least compassionate experiences I’ve seen toward both a dog and its owner.
While my client and I were calmly discussing how to create a more peaceful experience for the dog in the waiting area, a staff member asked us to leave the space rather than helping facilitate the situation because they had a other client walking by.
The advice given could have easily been discussed over the phone, which would have avoided putting a reactive dog through unnecessary stress in a clinic environment.
If you are seeking care for allergies or behavioral concerns, I would recommend looking for a veterinary practice that takes a more compassionate and holistic approach to animal care.
