- BLBunny LakeDec 18, 20253.0Went to the Bastrop Petco a couple of days ago to buy some fish and when I approached the salesclerk to ask a very simple question about beta fish, she looked and acted as if I were bothering her. There was no one else in the shop so I’m not sure why she was so flustered. She simply replied that she didn’t know the answer and walked away. I loudly told her that it was ok and that I would just Google the answer. When I walked up to the counter to complete my purchase, the manager was very gracious and we made small talk. I didn’t mention anything about my interaction with the salesperson as she just wasn’t worth the hassle. I did however mention that I heard there was a Petsmart being built just across the street at the new shopping center. I might just make my way over there for future purchases. Shame, too, because I only ever visit Petco maybe once or twice a year and spend a small fortune. Oh, well. Glad there’s going to be another pet store to choose from :)

She spent time with my daughter and myself going over details on the Green Cheek Conure we were wanting to buy. This included history of the bird, proper training/handling, appropriate food/snacks, and the best way to transfer to the new cage and acclimation. Consequently, the bird (Poppy) is happy, healthy and thriving. She's already learning new tricks, songs and trying new words. We went back and purchased the Sun Conure, and Jessica was wonderful working with us on the transfer. Such knowledgeable avian staff. Recommend to anyone looking for a healthy, well-behaved bird.
