I had my receipt and was following Petco’s return policy, but the associate refused the return, saying the store would take a “profit loss.” Even though the store was technically gaining the fish tank. I was just confused, and instead of helping, the associate proceeded to laugh at my face. I understand they may have policies about certain returns, but that’s not the issue—it’s how they handled it. A simple, polite explanation would have been enough. I ended up returning the item at the Mansfield store with no problem. I explained the situation to one of the managers in Mansfield out of curiosity and she expressed that unless it was an animal or I didn’t have the receipt then they should have taken my return because it’s all under the same corporation. It’s frustrating when a routine return becomes unnecessarily difficult because of poor customer service.
