Went in looking for collars for my dogs and they had very little. Not like Petsmart's selection.

Store is usually clean which is nice but I will say the employees aren't the friendliness. While checking out there was a male and female in a conversation and neither said a word other than my total. Then a thank you and turned her back to finish her conversation.

I went in to get some insects for my pet chameleon last week and decided to check out the chameleons they had for sale. While checking out the babies I noticed that one of them was getting burned from the lights so I wanted to bring it to their attention. They had an employee come over to me and asked how he could help me. So I told him ur lights r burning the babies and he says u mean where he is changing colors and I told him no if u look u can see where he is already burned. He then sticks his hand inside and feels under the heat lamp and says well it's sitting at 75-80 degrees which is where they r suppose to be. I told him it's not the heat lamp that is burning him it's the UV light. He then tells me if he was being burned he would get away from it. I told him that is incorrect. They do not feel that they r being burned like we can so they can't tell they need to get away from it. I am then told that he has to use Petco protocol that only allows him to do so much so what did I want him to do about it. By this point I was beyond furious. Cuz first of all the ground lizards like bearded dragons need uvb 10.0 lights whereas chameleons only need uvb 5.0 lights. Hence the reason that poor baby was being burned. Not to mention the uvb lights r not suppose to sit so close to the cage to begin with. 6-12 inches above the enclosure to prevent harming them or make it to where they can't reach the top of the enclosure because once they have been burned it is irreversible damage and that baby already had its spikes on the back of its neck completely burned off and even had damage on its poor face. I thought if I brought it to their attention they would fix the problem not act like there was nothing they could do. Or like it was an inconvenience to them. That is called neglect and I feel sorry for that poor baby cuz it didn't ask for that and shame on them for not immediately trying to fix the problem. Not all lizards r the same and should be treated to their specific needs not just whatever u deem fit. I will probably never go to Petco again cuz I was appalled by the lack of compassion for the babies in their care. If someone points out hey these babies r being hurt u should try to solve the issue not act like it's no big deal. Those babies can't protect themselves and can only be where u put them and u should have the knowledge to know how to care for them or don't sell them at all. That baby will always have that damage for the rest of its life cuz those spikes won't ever grow back. If I could have I would have taken it home right then and there but I couldn't. I just hope he finds a home soon before he is burned worse. The enclosures should be specific to the animal in it not just a basic range for all of them. Do ur research and know what they need if it going to sell them. No one wants to get a pet that already has damage because of ur lack of knowledge. And those babies don't ask to be hurt like that. I hope the rest of ur employees have more empathy for those animals than the one I dealt with.
