I am writing this review today because of Rachael Carpenter DVM at Fort Henry Animal Hospital who has touched my life twice in the last year. Jan 2025 OJ my male cat suddenly could barely walk. I tried to call my vet and get an appt. All they said to me is we don’t have any appts for 4 days. Even with me crying hysterically. I found Fort Henry Animal Hospital after a couple stops. Dr Carpenter delayed her surgeries to see my cat, my baby. Needless to say it was not good news and she gave me options. I did not want to see him suffer and decided to put him down. She was genuine and caring and showed empathy for what I was going through. That touched me tremendously. I could not believe what she did for me and my baby boy. Then couple weeks later I got a sympathy card signed by the animal hospital. That touched my heart and I didn’t forget. I decided t take my miniature schnauzer there. I felt like my pets were not just pets to them but my family
Now to Jan 2026, I took my female kitten and got her spayed. Surgery went well. But then 3 weeks out she started becoming very lethargic and I could see it in her eyes she was not feeling well. I took her in. Dr Rachael Carpenter was the vet who saw her that day. She said she was going to have to open back up. When i went back she was very thorough and told me what she found. She was perplexed and didn’t understand what happened and this far out. She wanted to keep her till Saturday and then the the drain out before I took her home. I went in Saturday and she told me she was doing great but wanted to know if she could keep her till Thursday. She was being extra careful and wanted to make sure she stayed doing well. I went back on Thursday and she was very happy with how Smokey was doing. Again Dr Carpenter went the extra mile for me and my baby girl this time. I could not have asked for a better veterinarian and she is the most caring and treats your animals like your family , your babies. She has touched my life twice, one not so good situation and the other could have been bad. I can never thank her enough for being who she is. I go to Fort Henry Animal hospital because of her. Thank you Dr Carpenter for all you do and I am so very glad my life and my animals lives have crossed your passed. I will be forever greatful! Jonna Bledsoe

My 8 year old Begal mix was experiencing sudden health issues, not eating he was too weak to walk. We managed to get them to put in a spot for 10:40a yesterday. They seemed very slow instead of acting like it mattered , when I had to struggle to carry him in the room , just a empty sounding "poor baby" . They did a parasite check when they never told us the results to, they didn't run a parvo test, when I asked why they said he's not having bloody Diarrhea or vomiting, but as any pet own knows when they get to that level their chance of life is 1/100. And often don't always have the same symptoms, my rescue griffin 2 years ago died to parvo he didn't have most of those symptoms. They suggested 500$ worth of testing I did 200 yesterday I was supposed to come in today but he didn't make it. He had accidentally pooped in their floor I wwnt to clean it for them and I saw blood, and instead of taking it seriously she sounded very condescending and said probably not and threw it out. This place is VERY expensive for how little was done to him. I WOULDN'T go back.

I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment with the recent changes at Fort Henry Animal Hospital. Over the years, this veterinary hospital has been a trusted provider of care for our pets, but the recent changes have significantly impacted our confidence in the services provided.
One of the most noticeable changes is the complete turnover in staff. The nurses, specifically Molly and Bella, who were previously a part of this hospital were not only highly knowledgeable but also compassionate and dedicated to the well-being of our animals. Their level of care was excellent in every interaction, and their absence is keenly felt. The new staff members, while polite, do not seem to offer the same level of familiarity, expertise, or personal connection with our pets.
Additionally, Dr. Carpenter, who has always provided exceptional care, is no longer with the clinic. She was always thorough, taking the time to explain treatment plans and testing options in a way that gave us confidence in the care being provided. Her compassionate, informative approach made us feel that our pets were in the best hands.
In contrast, our recent experience with the new doctor was disappointing. During the consultation, Dr. Kayla dismissed the previous recommendations made by Dr. Sally, labeling them as outdated and unnecessary. She expressed that the suggested testing was both costly and of no significant benefit. This not only raised concerns about the continuity of care but also led to serious doubts about the hospital’s commitment to providing the best possible treatment options for our pets.
The shift in medical approach and the lack of consistency in care is troubling. We have been informed that Dr. Carpenter will be returning, but until that time, we do not feel comfortable continuing to seek care at this facility. Our pets are our family and we need to have confidence in their care.
I hope that management takes the time to reflect on these recent changes and the impact they have had on patient care. It is unfortunate that such a positive establishment is now headed in a direction that seems to be undermining the quality of service that once set it apart.
