I have been taking my pets to North Madison Animal Hospital for almost 14 years. The doctors, techs, and reception staff at this clinic are THE BEST. Having lived in other larger cities before moving to Jackson, I had grown accustomed to veterinary practices where you feel like your pets are just numbers on an invoice...but NOT this place. Every time I take a pet there we are greeted warmly and my concerns are always listened to. I've never felt rushed or dismissed by any of the doctors at this practice (and because we have so many animals I think I have seen all of them at one time or another). The staff at this clinic cares deeply for my animals and are always thorough, honest, and respectful when it comes to discussing their care options. Yes, there are expenses associated with veterinary care...but that is part of the responsibility of pet ownership. Veterinary practices have bills to pay just like every other business, and I believe that finding doctors you trust because of their knowledge and expertise (and not just because they are the cheapest) is very important. Over the years my animals have presented with various medical needs (everything from routine care to major surgeries), but the experience that sticks out to me most is the care that Dr. Fleming provided to our senior dog Major a couple years ago. Major had become VERY sick after a rare medical complication. He was at death's door and we thought for sure we were going to lose him. Dr. Fleming explained what was going on with him, along with laying out our options...including being transparent about the costs associated with each of those options. We listened as she gave her honest opinion on what would give him the best chance at survival. She didn't sugarcoat anything, but rather tried to explain the pros and cons of each option. Ultimately, we took Dr. Fleming's advice and agreed to her recommended treatment. It was touch and go for a bit...but I'm happy to say that Major pulled through and he is still with us today. Dr. Fleming (and the others that worked alongside her) SAVED Major's life. We are forever grateful for the additional years we've been able to enjoy with our best friend. There isn't a doubt in my mind that Major is here today because of the excellent care he received. I wouldn't trust my precious dogs and cats to anyone else in Jackson. I highly recommend this practice because of their skill, compassion, and expert care.

I am writing this review on behalf of my parents who are so heartbroken and devastated right now by the awful “care” they received at this vet. I want to warn people before their beloved pets are ripped away from them unnecessarily, which is what happened to my family.
Winston, the sweet, loving, funny bulldog pictured, had been walking awkwardly when my parents took him to the vet. The workup revealed bladder stones. My parents were told that the only option was surgery. No other options were offered. Trusting the professionals, my parents scheduled him for surgery 2 days later. (Afterwards, we looked it up, and treatment options for bladder stones include less invasive procedures such as a bladder scope or sound waves to break up the stones. These options were never presented to us. I can’t help but be suspicious that Dr. Fleming didn’t offer these options, as it might mean she’d had to refer us to another practice, thus reducing her own payout on this innocent, furry patient.)
Hindsight is 20/20, because only later did we think about the fact that Winston had also been diagnosed with a UTI, but this infection was never confirmed to be cleared before surgery was performed. As you might expect, he was doing very poorly after this ill-advised surgery. He wasn’t eating, drinking, and seemed uncharacteristically miserable. We called North Madison Animal Hospital and brought him in first thing in the morning. They kept him the remainder of that day, but they closed at 5 pm and we had to take him home. He still wasn’t eating or drinking, so we took him to the animal emergency room, where he very sadly passed away slowly and painfully from infection/sepsis. Winston did not have to die this way or this soon.
This incident was so tragic because we put our trust in Dr Fleming, and when she saw Winston, she didn’t see an adored member of our family, she saw dollar signs. She didn’t see the companion who snuggled up with my Dad while he’s sick, or the playful puppy who loved chasing water from the hose with my brother, or the loyal dog sprinting to my mom when she got home. Dr Fleming saw an opportunity. My parents trusted her to advise them to do the right thing for their fur-baby, but she tragically, egregiously, heartlessly let them down. Even worse, she let an innocent animal down.
I strongly caution you to think twice before you bring your pet here. Dr Fleming not only took away a piece of our hearts, but she also chipped away at our trust of the veterinary profession.
