Update: I’m now giving this place a very solid one star because they have really great on-hold music (no joke—the 20 min on hold before they dropped my call was almost fun). For five weeks I’ve been trying to order heartworm med for my dog. Astoundingly Petco has no access to Vetco records/prescriptions and so they have to call Vetco. And Vetco apparently doesn’t respond to calls or faxes. So, lesson learned: pay the extra money and go to an actual vet. ——————— My sole purpose in going to the Vetco Clinic was to get a heart worm prescription and a Lepto vax. And to save money in the process. Check-in took a while and then I had to wait. Not a big deal. What was a big deal—I didn’t realize that Vetco is all about point of sale. I didn’t want to purchase the name brand heart worm from Petco and they didn’t have the much less expensive generic in stock. That seemed odd, but oh well. Was told I could purchase online and later received an email with directions. The problems then quickly piled up into an impasse: (1) the link in the email didn’t work. Not a big deal, but then… (2) placed an order since Petco is supposed to have my dog’s visit and prescription on file, but days later got an email stating the order has been cancelled and my dog must first see a vet. Geesh. (3) there apparently is no way to contact Petco—no email or chat or call options anywhere on their website that I could find. And of course if I can’t get Vetco to confirm to Petco that my dog already saw a vet at their own clinic I will have absolutely no chance of Vetco giving some other doggie pharmacy proof of by subscription. Ridiculous! My advice: if you are good with a bit of a wait and are okay spending more on the name brand meds then Vetco could be good for you. If, like me, you are on a budget and want generics try someplace else.

They take care of the pets well, but even with an appt, there was a long wait to check in
