I walked in to look around with my kids today and the amount on feces in the habitats for the ferret, gerbils, and hamsters was absolutely astounding. It looks like no one has cleaned them in weeks. I have pictures to show it. Tried to call their animal care support and the guy on the phone sounded like he didn’t want to talk to me and didn’t seem to understand the issue (or care). Not only is this lack of care on the team members working there but also all the managers over looking this store and these animals. Need to replace employees with people who care or shut down. Disgusting.

Never going here again! This happened over a month ago on August 28th. -For the record as well, I have had taken care of fish for over 15 years and very knowledgeable about fish care- I was wanting to buy 3 little ghost shrimp for a (empty of any other fish) planted 3 gallon tank. The manager on duty that day initially okayed the shrimp after asking how big my tank was. But continued asking aggressively (still confused why)not only how big my tank is but what kind of fish I had, how many, and how many tanks I had total in the house. (To be clear- I do not have an issue with an employee informing a buyer about proper fish care for some people may not have researched properly how to take care of the fish they are buying.) But the issue at hand is the way she aggressively asked the questions(tone of voice/facial expressions) as well as when she went too far in asking about my other tanks which were not at all any of her business when I was talking about only the 3 shrimp for my 3 gallon tank (which should be her only concern if any) as well as another small fish for the tank. I told her after she asked how many tanks I had in the house- kindly but firmly- that I’m sorry but the questions were getting intrusive and frankly none of her business at that point how many tanks I have. She got upset and said she “wasn’t selling me any fish that day”. Shocked I asked her why and she said “because she isn’t comfortable in selling me any fish”. I said that doesn’t make any sense you okayed the three shrimp just a minute ago for my 3 gallon tank. She claimed “it wasn’t personal but that she just didn’t feel comfortable and has the right per policy to deny a sale.” Again not explaining why…. she expressed later on in the conversation that I wouldn’t give her info on my other aquariums in my home(again none of her business since the shrimp aren’t going in those tanks so thus- none of your concern or business) I said, “if it isn’t personal, then give me the 3 shrimp for my 3 gallon tank that you okayed at the beginning please and leave the one small fish out.” She said abruptly, “okay fine! I’ll give you the shrimp!” She starts to grab the 3 shrimp and i asked her for the main manager of the store’s name so that I could express my feelings on this matter, and she told me his name but immediately stepped off the ladder to the tank and said “I am not selling you any fish today!” Dumbfounded I asked why? She said “because you won’t tell me what other tanks you have in the house and size!” I said fine I’ll tell you (I proceed to tell her) and she said “doesn’t matter I am not selling them to you anymore! I’m denying the sale and I have the right to do so”. I told her “you must be having a bad day” and left that store knowing I would never ever come back to such rude treatment and judgment. In summary: People in a manager position or rather any employee must have the maturity and professionalism to be able to give 1. The name of manager higher up than them without issue or denying sale because of customer asking for it. For all customers are entitled to just and fair treatment and to be able to make a complaint to the correct person of a business when there is an issue at hand. I was given the name but directly afterward denied sale just because she was upset I asked…. that is not okay in any respect. 2. A manager but also an employee of any sort should be able to handle questions about the policies they have no problem and not get defensive or upset over it. 3. No employee or manager should “police” their customers making their customers feel not welcomed, unwanted, unappreciated, disrespected, and judged. On the bright side, this negative experience led me to explore other pet stores in the area in which I have found tremendously better places to buy my fish where I receive beautiful customer service. And they take better care of their fish than Petco which is an added benefit. (Side point - When I walked to the shrimp there was one of their Gourami fish lying dead on the floor ………

If I could give zero stars I would! petco I am absolutely livid! we bought a cockatiel. got home that night realized yall have clipped his wings and tail feathers. poor baby but fine ill talk to petco tomorrow about it. went to sleep and woke up to our new baby dead. went to petco this morning they gave me a refund but then accused me of clipping his wings and killing him!. we didnt even have him for a full 24hrs he went straight into a cage with everything he would need to be happy and comfortable and he didnt last the night. its unfortunate and heartbreaking enough to lose a feather baby we were so excited to have. but to then be accused by this lady of butchering his wings and then telling me I would no longer be able to buy a pet from petco again let alone another bird which I wouldnt anyways not again after my daughter found it dead this morning breaking her heart. The audacity to accuse me of abuse is absolutely unacceptable. The associate that ridiculously accused me is named amber
