- DZDan Zuby4 days ago1.0Greetings pet lovers I am posting this review on my most recent experience with Petco on Eastern Boulevard York Pennsylvania. I am a fresh water aquatics enthusiasts and have been in it for several years. I choose my stores carefully for price and quality and after a local Red lion York area privately owned pet shop treated me with disrespect and racism I decided to purchase my items from Petco. I recently purchased a 20 gal tank and lid from Petco and after reconsideration I decided to return the items to purchase a larger tank more suitable for my needs. I drove 45 minutes to the east York Pennsylvania Petco, I removed the tank and matching glass lid from my car and walked it to the front door of Petco. Keep in mind I am 60 years old and carrying this tank from my car to the front door of Petco was not an easy task, as I got to the the front door carrying this Aquarium the manager came to the front door and locked it stating that she was short staffed and was closing the store for 30 minutes to and hour saying that she had to pump.(Whatever that means) So here I am standing at the store front with a 20 gallon aquarium in hand being refused service. At this point naturally I'm a bit upset having drove 45 minutes. So I sat in the parking lot and decided to call Petco corporate office in California to express my situation. My call was answered within 2 minutes and I explained what happened, the representative put me on hold and called store manager to find out what the situation was. I was on hold for around 15 minutes. The representative came back on line and told me that they were sorry for the inconvenience and apologized, I asked the corporate Petco representative how were they going to compensate me for this inconvenience and her reply was(We are going to give you a $15 coupon for my next visit. Really! This was a slap in the face from corporate Petco office. Bottom line is if you love your pets and you want respectable service from and pet store, do not buy from Petco chain store. They don't seem to care about their customers as they claim. I was there to do a return and repurchase a larger tank but at this point I will never buy anything from Petco ever again. I suggest that all pet lovers use Amazon for there pet needs. Chewy is also a great place for quality products home delivery at a great price.

While the customer was not listening to the manager and what he was saying the manager maintained professionalism in dealing with the obscene customer and even apologized to my wife and I profusely even though he did nothing wrong. The manager at this location is incredible!

Finally the staff member stepped aside but they continued to keep talking not acknowledging my husband at all. Not a word!!! So rude.

While checking out, the cashier transgender since they didn't have a name. I am not judging except the attitude he displayed clear impatience heavy sighing, unprofessional body language, and an overall attitude that made me feel rushed and disrespected. As a paying customer, I was simply taking a moment to get my payment together for an Instacart order, and there was no reason for such behavior. No customer should feel uncomfortable or unwelcome at the register. This individual’s conduct reflects poorly on your store and should be addressed. If someone cannot treat customers with basic courtesy and patience, then they shouldn’t be in a front-facing customer service position. I hope management takes this matter seriously and ensures that all employees are trained and held accountable for providing respectful, professional service.
