  I came into Petco intending to purchase two birds. I spent a few minutes calmly observing them to see which ones I connected with and which interacted well. During that time, the employee (Debbie) managing the area became visibly irritated with me for simply looking. She stood nearby huffing and puffing, clearly impatient, which made the experience uncomfortable. At one point, she stomped her foot and told me in a very degrading tone to come get her when I decided what I wanted. Once I had made my decision, I went to find her as instructed. She was helping other customers, so I respectfully stood several feet back to avoid interrupting, just making my presence known. Instead of acknowledging that, she loudly snapped at me in front of other customers, saying, “Ma’am, I will be with you when I’m done. You need to be patient.” This was embarrassing and completely uncalled for, especially since I wasn’t doing anything to rush or interrupt her. When she finally came over, I calmly explained that I was just waiting respectfully. She responded by claiming she had been watching me and that I was “taking too long” and “on my phone,” as if that justified her behavior. I was on my phone getting information about what supplies I would need for the birds—something any responsible pet owner would do. On top of that, she was very forceful about pushing specific brands, consistently steering me toward the most expensive options even when there were clearly cheaper alternatives for the same type of bird and purpose. When I asked about those other options, she dismissed them entirely, telling me they weren’t good and even going as far as to say that choosing them would make me an irresponsible pet owner. That was completely out of line. I understand upselling is part of the job, but this felt excessive and uncomfortable. I felt pressured to spend nearly five times more on products I didn’t need just to end the interaction. It also raises the question why is Petco selling products that their own employees claim are not safe or suitable for the animals they sell? The entire experience was unnecessarily rude, unprofessional, and uncomfortable. I used to come to this location every couple of weeks for my other pets, but after this experience, I will not be returning. This experience has completely mortified me.

  Yesterday I had my two dogs groomed by Katie. She did an excellent job and was very patient and did a terrific job. Thank you Katie! Peggy Goff

  I am very disappointed with Petco. I was told that if I bring in the freshwater fish that they would put them in a rehoming tank. I trusted their word and tore down my tank and took the fish in, keeping the temperature of the water at temperature suitable for the fish. When I got there, I was told that they cannot accept them because they don't have a isolated tank to put them in. Not knowing what I could do because I no longer have the tank to put them back into, I asked what they suggested. They told me that if I was going to flush them them down the commode, I should use an essential oil in a bag of water and sedate them first before sending them to their demise. Totally not impressed with the Petco company for putting their staff in such a position to have to suggest such a cold idea. I could tell that the employee felt very bad for having to tell me that. The company either does or doesn't accept fish for rehoming, and they should make that clear and stick to it. In addition, how many people go in to buy an aquarium, which can be quite expensive by the time you get everything, and then you have to purchase fish on top of all that. This could have been a great opportunity for someone just starting out in the hobby of aquariums and make it more affordable. I reached out to another local pet store who accepted them, along with all my future business. Petco should not be selling live creatures if they are not prepared to help their customers with real-life situations that arise when owning pets.

  Never ever get fish here. All the fish I have ver gotten at Petco have killed our whole tank. Every single animal I have gotten here has died even when getting a whole new tank for treatment. We got 2 guppies at Petco and it killed our whole tank including the pleco we have had for 4 years. We made a whole new tank and treated it and salt water dipped them and the tank still died out. We also got 3 types of dog food at Petco and they made our dogs got sick and had no energy. Try you luck at a different pet store 1 stars.
