Franklin Veterinary Associates has been absolutely wonderful with my dog, Izzy. From the moment we walk in the front desk checks her in and gives her lots of love and her favorite treats. Everyone here is very kind and professional. Veterinarians and Staff take the time to explain everything clearly, answer all my questions, and make sure Izzy feels comfortable and safe during every visit. You can tell they truly love what they do and treat every pet like their own. I couldn’t ask for better care and would highly recommend Franklin Vet Associates to anyone looking for a trustworthy, compassionate vet.

This happened a few years ago, but I’m still deeply traumatized by it. I had a sick cat who meant the world to me. I kept taking him to this vet, telling them something was seriously wrong, but they kept sending us home with nothing, over and over again. The only thing they ever offered was expensive cat food as a “treatment.”
I eventually asked for his results to be printed, and I noticed myself that his levels were off.
One day, I rushed him in as an emergency because he smelled like death. By then, it was too late. My beautiful baby boy, only 4½ years old, had cancer, and it had progressed too far. They told me they could give him steroids to maybe last another day, but death was extremely near. It felt selfish to try to prolong his suffering.
I didn’t get to properly say goodbye. He was gone within minutes of hearing the news. They gave me only a few minutes with him before putting him to sleep, and after he passed, I had less than five minutes with him before they took him away.
So much money spent. So much research done by me. And so much blame I put on myself for not getting a second opinion. I kept waiting for him to get better because I trusted them.
I cry every time I think about that experience. I knew something was wrong, and I kept being shut down. I will never forgive them for this.
I switched to Greencastle Veterinary Hospital, and I truly recommend them. I’m finally speaking up because I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did.
Frequently Asked Questions About Franklin Veterinary Associates
How often should my pet have checkups?
We recommend annual examinations for healthy adult pets. Pets that are older or have ongoing health concerns may need to be seen more frequently to maintain their health and well-being.
Do I need flea, tick, and heartworm prevention?
Year-round protection against fleas, ticks, and heartworms is highly recommended. Continuous prevention is essential for maintaining your pet's health and comfort.
What should I do in an after-hours emergency?
For after-hours emergencies, please call our emergency line immediately. If we're unavailable, we advise you to seek care at the nearest 24-hour veterinary facility.
When should I spay or neuter my pet?
Generally, the optimal time for spaying or neutering is between six and 12 months of age. However, this can differ based on your pet's specific breed and health status.
How can I tell if my pet is overweight?
Veterinarians utilize a body condition scoring system to evaluate pet weight. At home, you should be able to feel your pet's ribs without an excessive fat layer covering them.
How do I introduce a new pet into the household?
We recommend a gradual introduction process to ease the transition. This includes supervised interactions between pets and exchanging scents to help minimize stress for all animals involved.
What can I do to make my pet less anxious about going to the vet?
To reduce your pet's anxiety, we can provide medication before the appointment. This helps to relax your pet and make their visit more comfortable.
What's the safest way to travel with pets?
For safe pet travel, use proper restraints such as carriers, seatbelt harnesses, or secure crates. It's crucial to never leave your pet unattended in a vehicle.
