Meowhaus has been such a positive experience for me over the past three years. My mom originally found them when I first moved out, and from my first visit, I could tell this team truly cares about the cats in their care. The staff is friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do.
Shannon, in particular, has been amazing. She usually handles our check-ins and check-outs, and she is incredibly knowledgeable. She has recommended products that were specifically helpful for my cats and even helped me find a great cat nail trimmer. She took the time to show me how to make nail trims quick and low-stress for both me and my cats, which meant so much. It is clear that she cares not just about the cats staying there, but about supporting their owners too.
I genuinely feel confident leaving my cats here. The enrichment and attention they receive make it completely worth it. My cat Dolly even made it onto their website, which was such a sweet moment and shows how much individual care they give.
I recommend Meowhaus without hesitation. As long as I am in Portland, I will continue bringing my cats here. Thank you to Shannon and the entire team for taking such good care of them.
Sorry this is long. It is just hard to say less when you have had such a good experience.

My 17-year-old cat with kidney disease vacations here while I’m on vacation. She comes home calm and unstressed, which puts me at ease when I have to leave town. I know she’s in a nurturing, attentive environment.

I love this place! We got a kitten pretty spur of the moment after looking for many months. Of course, we had beach reservations that were previously scheduled for two weeks after.😬
Meowhaus made me feel totally at ease leaving our baby kitten there for three nights. The place is clean and cat proofed with many enrichment opportunities and safety measures in place. It has great little suites with climbing structures and cubbies for shy kittens to hide and feel safe in. The aviary for the cats to watch birdie TV is so awesome also! I really appreciated the designated time for check-in and check-out too, to review my cat’s stay and her habits while there (eating/toileting/what she enjoyed, etc). And it was all at a very reasonable price, I thought. I will definitely be utilizing MeowHaus each time we leave town! :)

The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The whole place is clean and neat. Our cat seems to do very well there; he's not stressed at all when he gets home. We will definitely continue to use Meowhaus whenever we leave town.
Frequently Asked Questions About Meowhaus 1 Feline Boarding & Day Spa
What do I bring?
We provide essential items such as a memory foam bed, litter box with litter, and food and water dishes. Please bring your cat's food, vaccination records, completed meowhaus paperwork, any necessary medications, and flea treatment. You're welcome to bring additional comfort items like bedding, blankets, or toys (avoiding those with strings or rubber bands). If you forget anything, we have various comfort items available.
What do you do in an emergency?
In case of a medical emergency, we'll immediately contact you or your designated emergency contacts. We'll arrange transportation to the nearest veterinary clinic for urgent care. Please note that all emergency care expenses are the responsibility of the cat owner.
What vaccinations are required?
We require FVRCP and rabies vaccinations. For cats unable to receive vaccinations due to health reasons, we accept a veterinary exemption letter.
What are the suites like?
Our 44 suites across two locations are approximately 216 cubic feet each. Standard and special needs suites are similarly sized, typically 4 feet wide, 6 feet long, and 9 feet tall. Most suites feature a skybox balcony, a large window overlooking the aviary, a full glass door, scratching carpet, and multiple levels. Special needs suites omit the skybox for safety reasons. The garden room is unique, offering an outside view instead of an aviary connection.
I'd like my kitty to stay just for the day. What do I do?
Day boarding is available for $40 per cat. Drop off your cat during our morning hours and pick up during afternoon hours. To book, visit our reservation page and select the same date for arrival and departure. Please disregard any additional fee notes; the cost is a flat $40.
My cat is indoors-only and never had fleas. Do I still need flea protection?
Yes, flea protection is required for all cats. While your cat may not have fleas, we occasionally receive cats with active infestations. We treat these cases immediately, but there's still a risk of flea transfer. We offer Advantage for $20 per dose if needed, which provides 30 days of protection.
Do kitties get individual attention?
Absolutely. Our staff regularly visits each suite to provide affection, including hugs, kisses, petting, and brushing. We employ dedicated kitty cuddlers for two-hour shifts of exclusive attention. Cats can also explore the shop individually, with some preferring to wander while others enjoy helping with office tasks. We prioritize safety, ensuring all cats are secure before opening the front door.
Can I come by for a tour?
Yes, we offer tours by appointment. To maintain a calm environment, we schedule tours between 10am-11:30am and 2pm-4:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday. We don't offer tours on Mondays due to high check-out activity.
My cat requires medication. Do you do that?
Yes, we administer various medications. Pills, liquids, and ointments are $10 per day, subcutaneous fluids are $20 per day, while insulin injections, glucose monitoring, and bladder expressions are $25 per day. Our staff includes a veterinary technician. Medicated cats receive treatment first thing in the morning and last thing at night, approximately 9 hours apart. Please contact us if you have any questions or consult your vet if you have concerns about the schedule.
Do I bring my own food?
We ask that you provide your cat's regular food, bringing more than enough for the duration of their stay. We have refrigeration and heating facilities for various food types. Treats are also welcome. In case you forget food, we offer a selection of wet and dry options for $5 per meal (price may vary by type and circumstance)
