- MGMelissa GallentineMar 11, 20261.0I’m extremely frustrated by the growing lack of follow-up on diagnostic testing. Owners are frequently encouraged to approve costly tests—bloodwork, cultures, biopsies, and other lab work—with the promise of results in 3–5 days. Instead, results often take weeks and require multiple phone calls. In one case, a client’s horse died before the lab results even came back. I’ve had similar experiences with three of my own horses. Most recently, a clients 25-year-old draft horse has had 4 visits, 4 flushes, 2 cultures taken for a severe nasal infection from choke. Despite repeated calls, we still have no lab results and the stinky snot is back in full force with no clear treatment plan or antibiotic recommations based on the culture resistance. Diagnostic tests are expensive, and owners agree to them expecting answers. Our horses—and the people paying for their care—deserve timely results and better follow-up. Please do better.

Dr. Danielle, Dr. Paul (and staff) took excellent care of him and did an outstanding job explaining everything they were doing as well as providing different options. I didn't feel at any point they had an agenda or had anything other than the best care possible in mind when walking me through those options. They kept a close watch on my pony for two nights and provided very clear instructions at his release. I walked out with a very reasonable bill after a two night stay and 48 hours of close monitoring. Thanks to the awesome doctors and staff at CEH - you are amazing!
