I brought a stray kitten to Vetco on Thursday 01/29/2026 after finding a coupon advertising a free exam for first-time customers. I was concerned about eye, ear, respiratory issues, and possible parasites.
Despite the free exam promotion, I was charged $80 for an ear exam, plus $63.60 for Clavamox (respiratory infection) and $68.00 for Posatex (ear infection). Erythromycin was recommended for the eye infection (we already had this medication at home). At the time, I trusted that my kitten had been properly examined and treated.
During the visit, the veterinarian stated that my kitten had a distended belly. This raised my concern about parasites, but I was told it could be possible pregnancy. Vetco then attempted to charge me for an ultrasound and additional fees to read the ultrasound, which I declined.
On 02/03/2026, I took the same kitten to a different veterinary clinic to be spayed. I was informed that my kitten still has an ear infection, eye infection, and respiratory infection, and was also diagnosed with ear mites and tapeworms—neither of which were identified or treated by Vetco.
When I explained what medications Vetco had prescribed, the technician informed me that Posatex does not treat ear mites, meaning my kitten was sent home without treatment for a very common parasite, especially in stray kittens. I was also told she would need additional medication for both the ear mites and tapeworms.
Additionally, the spay clinic confirmed that my kitten is NOT pregnant and that there was no need for an ultrasound or X-ray, raising further concern about Vetco’s recommendation for unnecessary diagnostic procedures rather than identifying the actual cause of her distended belly—tapeworms.
I am extremely disappointed that basic and important issues were missed, resulting in prolonged discomfort for my kitten and additional unexpected expenses for me. I also found it concerning that my kitten was taken out of the exam room for examination, despite being placed in a room with an exam table.
I trusted Vetco to properly care for a vulnerable stray kitten, and unfortunately that trust was misplaced. I would not recommend this clinic, particularly for first-time pet owners or animals coming in with suspected parasites.

The employees were very nice however I was supposed to get an estimate emailed to me for tooth extraction for my cat- never received it. I also asked about flea medicine during my visit- the lady told me if I order it online through their app that the vet would see it and approve it. It has been 2 weeks and they never approved it.
