DO NOT COME FOR GROOMING. I had one of the WORST grooming experiences I’ve ever had here. I brought in my pitbull, Mozzy, who is extremely friendly and has been groomed at multiple Petco locations with absolutely zero issues. Within FIVE minutes of dropping him off, I got a call saying I needed to come pick him up because he was “aggressive” and supposedly tried to bite the groomer and her coworker while they were doing his nails. First of all, Mozzy has NEVER been aggressive in his 4 years of life. Ever. And at other locations, if there’s something he doesn’t like, the groomers act like actual professionals: they pause, move on to another part of the groom, or work with the dog. They don’t immediately give up and label a dog aggressive. Instead, they threw him in a kennel until I could come get him. Completely unprofessional and honestly upsetting. The groomer (BREE) gave off a bad vibe from the moment I walked in, no warm greeting, no friendliness, no effort to make my dog feel comfortable. As a groomer, you’re supposed to create a calm, welcoming environment for animals. That clearly did NOT happen here. I truly believe my dog was scared because of how he was handled. I’ve since seen another review saying the same thing about groomer’s attitude, so clearly this isn’t a one-time issue. If you don’t know how to properly work with dogs — especially large breeds — you shouldn’t be grooming them!!!! I will NEVER return to this location and absolutely do NOT recommend trusting them with your pets.

I have never felt so disrespected, profiled, and blatantly discriminated against at a Petco in my life. I called this location to schedule a simple grooming visit for my dog. The employee’s tone IMMEDIATELY changed the second she learned he was a 5-year-old pit bull. The warmth disappeared and the apprehension kicked in right away. Then she pulls up his profile and tells me he was “referred out,” going on to suggest it was probably because he was a “bad,” “mean,” aggressive dog. Completely false. I called Petco’s corporate 1-800 line and they confirmed the referral had NOTHING to do with behavior — it was due to past no-shows. That flag was removed and I was cleared to book like normal. For context: My dog has been going to Petco since he was 8 weeks old — vaccinations, monthly grooming, multiple locations across Ohio AND during the two years we lived in Atlanta. He has never — not once — had a behavioral complaint. Groomers have always loved him, praised him, and enjoyed working with him. So I call back to schedule now that corporate cleared it, and she’s visibly irritated that he’s still coming in. When my sister dropped him off, she literally called me saying the staff’s energy was so nasty and unwelcoming that she didn’t even feel comfortable leaving. She stayed because the vibe was that off. Then — not even 15 minutes later — I get a call claiming my dog is “threatening,” “aggressive,” and “attacking staff.” Mind you, this is the FIRST time in 5 years and countless Petco visits that anything like this has EVER been said. When I asked what supposedly happened, she said he got “violent” when she touched his nails. If a dog shows discomfort, why keep pushing that area instead of adjusting like trained groomers do? No real answer — just more labeling. It honestly felt like they had already decided what type of dog he was — and what type of owner I was — before he even walked through the door. The speed in which he was branded dangerous, despite a spotless history, was disgusting. The breed bias was loud, and the treatment toward me over the phone and in person felt just as profiled. After years of loyalty to Petco, this location made it very clear that certain dogs — and certain owners — are not welcomed equally. Do better. Train your staff better. And stop stereotyping dogs and customers the moment you hear the word “pit bull.”

Their fish section is amazing. I traveled on New Year’s Eve, and still was able to get fish around a half hour before close. The fish I got were a more finicky species, and I travelled several hours to get them. I originally wanted to go to a few different stores, but they were all closed. The fish were perfectly fine after the drive back home. The store has care guides for commonly kept fish, water testing guides, the fish are all kept with plants, and they even have a large saltwater section. I would 100% go back if ever in the area.
