  Bond Vet is the best of the best. From the doctors to the staff, everyone at this location makes you feel at home & makes sure to sit down and detail whatever is happening with your pet. One doctor in particular named Dr. Melissa Toulouse, she is truly the best of the best. Because of her my dog Rowlf was able to live a happy, healthy life for many years even with some underlying conditions until his very last breath a few weeks ago. Highly recommend this clinic to everyone looking for top notch care for their pets. Thank you for everything over the years!

  I brought my 12-year-old cat here for a routine checkup and had a really disappointing experience. After paying for labs and additional testing, I never received proper follow-up on his results despite calling multiple times over several weeks. When I finally did get a response, it was incomplete and I was never given a clear treatment plan or necessary medication, even as his health was declining. I ended up taking him elsewhere, where he was quickly diagnosed, treated, and closely followed up with—something I wish had happened from the start. I won’t be bringing my baby back here and will be telling my neighbors and friends to look elsewhere.

  I had a good experience at Bond Vet. The staff was friendly and professional, and the clinic was clean and well-organized. Dr. Zhu took time to explain everything clearly and didn’t rush the visit, which I appreciated. My two cats had examination, got vaccinated, some lab works, treatment for ear mites, and schedule for spay. It is a bit pricier than some local vets, but the convenience, easy booking, and shorter wait times make up for it. Overall, a solid option if you want reliable, modern care for your pet.

  It is likely that I will never come here again. TLDR: The vet and tech we saw provided an impersonal experience, the vet was very alarmist and pushed for surgery that our cat ended up not needing. She also used inappropriate language given the gravity of the situation. It was an incredibly distressing and disappointing experience after so many friends had recommended this Bond Vet. Full story: This all happened back in September/October. We adopted our cat just a few weeks before coming to Bond Vet. 5 days after we got him, we had to take him two vets for what ended up being stomach issues. The first vet was a mobile vet because we were trying to save on costs. He suggested we take him elsewhere because if it was a foreign body like a string, he could be dead in max 2 days. We obviously did not want that! So we took him to a nearby vet that also suggested it may be a foreign body. However, the radiologists reading the x-rays thought it was likely just gastritis or something. They urged us to keep an eye on him and watch his bowel movements and food habits. After a week and a half of continuous diarrhea and a couple bouts of vomiting, we knew we needed to get him seen ASAP. This Bond Vet was the only vet I could find that had emergency availability. We live in Bushwick but have friends in Astoria who had great experiences at this location. We bring him in, the people at the front desk are lovely, and we eventually get taken back into a room. I'm going through our cat's history with the vet and tech (which really isn't much since we only had him for two weeks at this point, but I wanted them to know everything from the first vet visits we had). I felt so rushed and dismissed. I just wanted them to have all of the information that I had so we knew how to best treat him. They said they were gonna do more x-rays and they would update us after the results came back. We're in the waiting room for maybe 45 minutes or so and the vet comes back out and says "He has a linear foreign body. He needs surgery tonight. I'm going to go in the back and see who can get him in tonight." We were in shock. My partner says "What exactly does that mean?" The vet replies "It means he ate something he shouldn't have, likely a string and he needs emergency surgery. I'm going to call around to see who can cut the cat tonight" and then she just walks away... I was stunned. Cut the cat??? Yes we've only had him for a couple weeks at this point but using that kind of language to very stressed out pet parents is not okay. And just while we're sitting in the waiting room. I would have expected to be in a more private area to receive results like that. I didn't even know what to think. She comes back a little bit later and let's us know she called some places and it could cost us $8-9,000 or $3-6,000 depending on where we go. And I pushed back a little bit and was like "The vet we saw a couple weeks ago said that if he had eaten a string he could be dead in a matter of days. But it's been over a week now. And hes been eating normally. So I'm just confused how it could be a string." And she just kind of stared at me blankly and said "yeah, well..." And that was it. We never saw the x-rays, she never provided any explanation, we just were sent on our way to the next vet, with a $900 bill and the expectation to drop at least $3,000 more. Turns out it was gastritis and an infection and the $6,000 surgery ended up being a negative explore. I can appreciate that the vet we saw here just wanted to make sure our cat received the care he needed. But I didn't feel listened to or cared for like the experience we had at the first vet. I don't know if it's because Bond Vet is a big business and that's the difference of going to a smaller place? I don't know. But I can't imagine myself going back.

  Title: Extremely disappointing and inflexible service I had a very frustrating experience at Bond Vet Astoria. I arrived around 8:15 AM with my cat—who was already stressed from the trip only to be told I was “late” by two minutes and could not be seen. Meanwhile, the receptionist was still speaking with another client when I walked in. Instead of showing any understanding or flexibility, I was told I would either have to: 1. Pay an additional $25 fee to wait for another opening, or 2. Reschedule for a completely different day and time. This is extremely disappointing. Pet owners go through a lot to make these appointments happen especially with animals that get anxious and being turned away over a couple of minutes, with zero empathy, is unacceptable. What upset me the most was not just the policy, but the complete lack of consideration or effort to help find a solution. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this location to anyone looking for compassionate care—for both pets and their owners.
