I had a great experience here with my ferrets. I had a very hard time trying to find an exotic veterinarian that was taking new pets, but Fairport Animal Hospital was able to get me in only waiting a month. The prices are very reasonable and the doc was very willing to chat and answer any questions. Would recommend!!

For exotic pet owners:
Dr. Hall from Fairport Vet Hospital allowed my snake to continue to develop a severe illness by performing an incomplete exam. I see many positive reviews for cats, dogs, and birds. But I would recommend exotic pet owners seek care for their pets elsewhere.
My girlfriend and I brought a snake to Fairport Vet Hospital with symptoms of respiratory infection/mouth rot (open mouth breathing, debris in the mouth area, appearance of labored breathing). Dr. Hall examined my snake externally, reported a clean bill of health, and sent us on our way.
The symptoms continued to get worse, so shortly after our visit with Dr. Hall, we got a second opinion. The second vet (ARK in Henrietta) immediately diagnosed my snake with mouth rot and infection, and prescribed antibiotics. The big difference? The ARK vet actually examined my snake’s mouth, opening it slightly with a Q-tip. This is a step Dr. Hall neglected to complete, and it almost cost my snake’s life.
A warning to exotic pet owners: Fairport Vet Hospital took my payment for an exam, failed to complete a thorough exam, and profited off my business while almost allowing my pet to die from a completely preventable illness.

I took my Hognose snake to fairport animal hospital last month because I thought she had a respiratory infection and hadn't been eating and they had good reviews. The appointment with the vet lasted less than 10 minutes. Dr. Hall gave my snake a once over, letting her flail all over the place while he did. He told me it's "probably just how she is" and told me not to worry. I felt great. My girl is okay.
Fast forward a month, yesterday she shed and I took her out to check her over. Her mouth was super gunky, tongue slimy and sticky to the point it wasn't even forking, clicking when breathing. I made an appointment at another local vet today and IMMEDIATELY the vet looked at her mouth and told me she has really bad mouth rot and an infection. I'm getting 3 medications, and she has signs of abscesses that might need to be drained under sedation if the antibiotics don't work.
The fairport vet didn't even open her mouth. I'm just shattered that I made her suffer for a whole extra month with pain in her mouth to the point she wouldn't eat. When that man could've been at least a little more thorough and likely would've noticed it. Wouldn't recommend for exotics at least.
