  I’ve been going here since 2020 and used to recommend to everyone, but in the past year or so I’ve begun to lose confidence and today really sealed that feeling. I’ve always had positive interactions with techs/nurses/receptionists and today was no different. But the interaction with the vet today was odd - he threw out multiple different evaluations (she’s a 4 out of 6, a 6 out of 10) and I had to ask what those meant, which is fine no big deal. But one of those scales had to do with her teeth and he casually mentioned she might need to undergo anesthesia and a deep cleaning, but when I tried to get more information (risks, how severe is the tartar, what is the deciding factor for her needing this, cost) I couldn’t get any clear answers. They said we’d know more after her blood test, but couldn’t/wouldn’t tell me what insight the blood test would offer to that process. They also said they could get me an estimate for the cleaning but that probably the real cost would be very different from the estimate and there’s no way to know until they do the procedure. Left the building super confused on what next steps need to occur, a passing mention to a medication that was not followed up on, and the sense that I probably need to find a new vet. 4 stars mostly for the other staff who were wonderful.

  Took our cat to several vets across the city as his health was starting to decline, heart of BK was hands down the worst. Would not recommend. Even for an urgent procedure, they canceled the day before and said id have to wait a month. This was after they made me spend 500$ for the pre-procedure "check up", where they sold me a bunch of stuff I didnt ask for - unnecessary tests and expensive kidney diet food (the procedure was dental, nothing to do with kidney). And the worst part is that it was impossible to get in contact. They don't answer emails, they NEVER call back. If you are in the neighborhood or even if youre not, id do your pets and yourself a favor and avoid - pawsitive Veterinary is a fantastic alternative that is closeby

  Looking for a fear free vet? Don't go here. Fear-free standards and needs are no joke. Prior to an appointment yesterday, we had several positive experiences and spent hundreds of dollars and hours at this clinic, with a planned-ahead protocol, calm staff, and clear respectful communication. Yesterday, we saw a tech and vet that were new to both us and our dog, who is a high medical and behavioral needs rescue that has been harmed physically by a vet in his past. They did not review *or* follow any of the protocol we had developed in the past that is in documentation I have personally watched be submitted. They were dismissive of my concerns and advocacy to follow the plan, and yell and swore at my dog when he had a fear reaction to being approached abruptly. The vet also clearly did not know what he was talking about, and gave incorrect information on an important medication my dog takes (I have written proof of this information in email from the clinic from another vet.) Me, my family and our dog left this clinic silently and in tears. This entire situation likely worsened this young (one year old!!) dog's fear of the vet, and every single moment was handled entirely unprofessionally. They expected more than one year of health info for a one year old dog (??), and harped on about behaviorists and training despite him already having been evaluated by a behaviorist, working with a full spectrum trainer, and planning to attend a training intensive at physical maturity. They wouldn't listen to anything we said and were incredibly dismissive and shaming. I myself survived a dog bite at a very young age and I know it can be difficult to see a fearful dog or manage care for one (despite this dog having NO bite history or positive bite risk evaluation!). I have great respect for every single vet and tech staff we have seen across many clinics who have been amazing, and yet all that progress can be ruined by two ignorant and dismissive staff members who refused to do their jobs yesterday and have changed the course of our dog's care permanently. If you don't want to care for a dog, kindly leave the room and ask someone who can actually do their job to step in. I don't understand why such a horrible experience was allowed to occur.

  I had a much better experience my first time here with my dog, but this time around was really disheartening. I brought my cat in for a suspected anal gland issue. I made the appointment the day before and called again the day of to see if I can get her in earlier than 6pm. I was advised that they were booked through Thursday. Dr. Kim took a quick glance at my cat’s rear, and decided I would need to bring her back the next morning because “we close at 6:30pm.” I got there at 5, my appointment was at 6pm. It was noted in her appt details that we were coming in for a possible anal gland rupture, yet no one mentioned anything about needing to sedate her and add a drain until I was in the room! Dr. Kim was clearly more concerned with going home before closing, than actually helping my cat and I. When I asked why I wasn’t told this before, he replied “that’s not my concern, I’m the doctor” and walked out of the room. I was left in there with the assistant, who ignored all of my concerns and questions as he built an estimate of $1600 for me. Thankfully, the LVT came in and spent time with me, answering questions and explaining the process. He and the receptionist are the only reason I am even able to give any stars. I was grateful for their support. I took my cat to my regular veterinarian the next day (I didn’t have a car, and my 4 month old needed to be home with someone), and it was simply an irritation that was taken care of on the spot for $258!
