When I made appointment online for 10:30 for in room visit and when I got there, they changed it. They said we have one at 12 if you wanna wait but I couldn’t wait and they said they were gonna clean his ears and they never did. You have to stay on top of these people make sure they do what they gotta do for your pet.

It’s the only Banfield hospital in brooklyn or it’s Queens or Staten Island. This makes this hospital efficient to represent Brooklanders! So I want to be fair the staff are great but PetSmart needs to do New Yorkers and Brooklyn BETTER!

This place is awful. I've been coming here for almost 5 years amd it is getting progressively worse. I did not write this review sooner because Dr. MARTINEZ is the absolute best. However, 3 appts in a row I made appts with Dr. Martinez and instead it was another DR who saw my dog.
The front desk staff is understaffed, rude every single day and will waste your time. It is incredible how they are always behind like today that drop off was at 8 but no one came out to desks until 8:15am. Im here again for pick up at 5:10pm, its 5:40 and im still waiting. I can clearly see Dr. Martinez attended a bunch of other pets but not mine. The front desk staff will always try to upsell you but will not upgrade your plan the way they need to. Move you from register to register and get an attitude with you when you get upset. The entire front desk needs to be retrained.

I booked an appointment 2-3 weeks ago for early Jan, and just received a voicemail that the appointment slot was no longer available. No problem - called them back, lady on the call was really patient. Turns out their appointment system online is fake and completely not tied to their actual practice's system, next slot was 2 weeks out from the slot I requested, which wouldn't work for me since my dog's vaccines would have expired by then and she goes to doggy daycare regularly.
I had previously used Banfield in WA when I was moving to NYC, for a doctor's note for the airlines to bring my cat over and the slot I booked was the one I got.
Going back to just using Vetco, which has a really easy online booking system for both vet and grooming, and so far been very reliable.

This review is for both Banfield overall and specifically the Brooklyn location. I started with Banfield in 2006 with my first dog in California and added my second dog in 2012. The appointment availability and quality of care has substantially declined since I started with them almost 20 years ago. In 2020, after my first dog died in January, I was still required to pay for his plan for the full year through June which felt unusually cruel. Against my better judgment, I kept my second dog on the plan and we have consistently struggled to secure prompt appointments over the last 5 years. The last couple times my dog had a suspected UTI, the Brooklyn location couldn’t get us in for a week which defeats the purpose of having a plan like this. I won’t let my dog suffer in pain for a week because they no longer reserve blocks of time daily for illness and injury patients like they used to. I’ve had to go to other vets and pay out of pocket because of this. This is my last year as a Banfield customer.

We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
