I will start with my dog's appointment 1st, which was at 1230. I arrived at 1210 and the groomer asked me to wait as she was just about done with the dog she was grooming. Five minutes later, a man walked in with his out-of-control dog and talked to her for 32 minutes. Meanwhile, we are now eating up my appt time
By 12:45, I walked in and she said Oh yes, I. I was going to get you. (I was outside the window, she was on her phone) We go through the paperwork and the dog inspection. Prayer is a year and 4 months, well-trained, and easy. I have had her nails done at the vet and annal glands no issue twice, and I bathe her easily.
I pre-chose the deshedding shampoo with dryer, nail trim, and annal gland check. She tried to talk me out of the dry, and I firmly declined. She said they would do it lightly. She also wanted to talk me into nail grinding, but I declined; she needed a trim.
She tells me that it's probably about 2 hours as they are lightly booked. I was right away suspicious that she is not confident in her handling because she immediately came over the top of my dog for inspection, and of course, my dog lowered to the floor. I corrected her not to do that. (No dog trainer would ever advise that approach.) And my dog is then fine.
I don't hear anything finally, after waiting almost 3 hours, I stop by and they tell me she's not done. I ask why oh we need help with the nails, but they are complimentary so that we will.skip it. I said Ridiculous I specifically want her nails done and chose a package to include them. Then I am abhorred at the no skill way she is trying to trim, and the other gal tells me to go pay.
When I come back, to see her lifting by the middle of her stomach only off the table??? The gal brings her out of the swing door and immediately takes the lead off. I said Where is her choke chain. She says in the back.
Responds to me, the other gal will bring it. No, she brings an out-of-control pit out of the back, and will let it through the gate, while my dog is sitting without a lead. I start to say something, and the other worker places the Petco lead back on, and the Original gal gets the choke chain, which is sitting on her station the entire time, not in the back. One gal tells me they couldn't trim all the nails, and when I ask which ones didn't get trimmed, the other gal jumps in saying they all did, but not as short.
I ask why my dog is still wet as I put on her leash, and I said we didn't want to scare her! Bs. You let her air dry even though I told you that wasn't the service I was paid for.
When I pet her, there are tufts of hair coming out. I do not believe she was even brushed at all. As a very short-haired dog, she doesn't shed after a bath or a good brush. What a waste. As a current cancer patient, I was trying to take one item off my list, not throw money down the toilet!
Finally, we get home, and she is immediately drinking half a gallon of water. I suspect no water in the kennel while she was "air drying" for over 2.5 hours.
PS My best friend is a well-known dog trainer, and I have a client with 3 franchises of a dog boarding and grooming company at my other location in Oregon. As someone who is experienced having multiple dogs over 40 years, this was a joke, as they spent more time trying to talk me out of the service I paid for and into less work for the staff!
Use another location!
