I went there for some crickets and Josh was so kind and patient with me. I only needed the small ones and he took the time to make sure none were too big for my bearded dragon. Thanks again Josh!

Horrible customer service. I would not recommend buying an exotic pet from here. Oscar, if you’re reading this, your behavior was extremely rude and unprofessional. Please do not kiss customers’ birds — that’s inappropriate and unsanitary. You also need to learn how to speak to customers respectfully. I came in looking for a solution for my bird because I wanted to take extra precautions to protect my other birds. I never wanted to return him, and if that had been necessary, I was told by another staff member that I could purchase him back. Suggesting that I simply “give him up” was completely out of line. The bird itself was overpriced, but the cost wasn’t even the issue. The lack of professionalism and respect was. I would not recommend shopping here.

Awful customer service. I went to Petco because they advertised a free first visit and positioned themselves as responsive to urgent concerns. I mentioned my cat was having urinary issues, and they actively tried to move my appointment earlier, which gave the impression they cared and were prepared to help. Unfortunately, the experience was deeply unprofessional and unsettling. The staff member assigned to discuss my cat’s medical issue behaved in a way that felt inappropriate for a health-related appointment. She sat on the floor during the consultation, used a condescending sing-song tone, and relied heavily on slang rather than clear explanations. This made it difficult to take the interaction seriously, especially while my cat was distressed and vocal in his carrier. Throughout the appointment, she repeatedly directed her attention to my boyfriend instead of me, despite this being my cat and me asking the questions. It was hard not to notice the dynamic, and it felt dismissive. When discussing care options, she failed to clearly explain procedures or costs. Instead of walking me through what was medically necessary and why, she asked my “budget” upfront and then abruptly quoted a $400 price tag without explaining the steps involved. I was not seeking extensive testing. I was asking for a basic visual exam and guidance. There was also unnecessary and incorrect language used about my cat’s background, repeatedly implying he was a “community” cat even after I corrected this. The interaction felt judgmental rather than supportive. When it became clear I could not afford the services being pushed, we were politely but unmistakably rushed out, wrapped in performative kindness that felt hollow and transactional. Here’s the frustrating part: the issue turned out to be dietary. My cat had been eating too much dry food in a desert climate. Increasing wet food intake and using urinary-support food resolved the issue. This is basic, well-known guidance for cat urinary health. No one at Petco even hinted at this. Ironically, the only person who had ever mentioned hydration and wet food was a retail clerk at a different store. I left this appointment feeling embarrassed, dismissed, and shaken. For a business presenting itself as a trusted resource for pet health, this experience fell far short. Pet owners deserve clear communication, respect, and education, not pressure, judgment, or vague fear-based upselling. I would not return, and I would urge other pet owners to seek veterinary guidance elsewhere.

I bought a hamster from this location and was told that he was a girl. When I came home, I thought he was acting a little weird and maybe a week later, I found out that not only was he a boy, he was a completely different breed than what I was told. I called them and was left on hold for over an hour. It was whatever, but now I had a boy hamster that is going through puberty, and being super aggressive and territorial. So my fiance went to get a girl hamster to see if it would calm him down. The staff told him that the hamsters on a certain side were the girls and he got one of them. When he took that hamster home, we found out that this one WAS ALSO a boy. And now we have to have 2 different hamster cages because my first hamster is trying to attack my new hamster. I love them both nonetheless, but it was just an unfortunate circumstance that could have been avoided if the staff were more knowledgeable. Hamsters are living beings and deserve love like every other pet. Anyways, we're giving these hamsters very loving homes, have some pictures of them. The new one is still getting acclimated to this environment and I don't bother him too much, so I don't have a lot of pictures. Their names are Matcha and Mango.
