I asked the gentleman at the front desk for an over the counter recommendation for fish oil for my dogs. He asked me if my dogs went to that hospital I said no they did not. He said the hospital’s policy is not offer recommendations unless the pet is a patient. Guess their mission statement: "Make a Better World for Pets," which they define as defining the future of pet health and wellness,… doesn’t extend to all pets!

On 11/16/25 dog was seen by Dr. Santos. However, I would like to say. Service was rushed and not of quality. I needed to talk to Doctor and was denied the opportunity. I was being sent out with no vaccine tag or any list of medications.AlI I received was a breakdown of his vaccines. The doctor informed me she will give me a written breakdown and a list with medicated shampoo needed. Vet tech said doctor spoke with me over the phone. Which is true but not of satisfaction. I had to ask for list of shampoo and medicines and vaccine tag. This appt was booked for the very reason of being able to speak with doctor and pay for fee. Also the facility is dirty no hand sanitizer. I thought dog will leave sick. Look at you odd when paying with cash. This place needs to be managed differently. This visit has us not wanting to return ever.

I took my newly adopted cat (then a kitten) to Banfield for over a year and the vet there told me he was “dangerously overweight.” I put him on a diet, began restricting treats, etc. I decided to switch vets for logistical reasons because the closest Banfield to me closed suddenly, and they instructed me to go to this New Jersey location. So I started taking my cat to a new vet (NOT Banfield) that was closer to me, and coincidentally much more experienced than the people I saw at Banfield. The new vet told me I was STARVING my cat by feeding him what the vet had instructed at Banfield, and that I actually needed to double the calorie intake of my cat. I explained that the vet at Banfield told me my cat was overweight, and he explained that my cat was literally “just a big cat” and his bone structure and muscle distribution showed that he needed to be eating more food. At the time I took him to Banfield, he was only 9 months old and still growing. Cats are like people — they come in all shapes and sizes. This seems like a simple enough fact, but as a first-time cat owner, I believed the vet at Banfield when they blindly told me to cut my cat’s food intake. The fact that they said this after only weighing my cat but not feeling his musculature suggests they’re just careless or uninformed. I was underfeeding my kitten for almost 6 months because they told me to do this! I will absolutely never go back to any location. I no longer trust the qualifications of the vets at Banfield.
