Worst place ever. I brought my dog in on a Sunday because of diarrhea. Was offered about $800 of services before seeing an actual vet We have a. Cane corso who to be fair can growl but not bite. We wait about an hour in a room the size of a closet me my wife and my dog My and my dog weigh about 400lbs combined. He’s not happy no one is. Vet walks in. My dog growls then sits and looks at vet. Vet tells me that’s not normal. Nothing else he can do. Even though a muzzle was requested by us. And never offered by them. Save your time and money. This place sucks

This location has been going down hill. They are under staffed and it shows. The practice manager is more concerned about increasing the numbers she has said in front of the customers the numbers are slow for dental cleaning call and get more. Calling the office is challenging either no one answers or you’re put on hold for 20 minutes or more. Banfield is more concerned about making money than caring for your pets

Brought my kitty in the Tuesday before new years for what i thought was a respiratory issue. They did some tests and i was told the results might be delayed because of the holiday on Thursday. They gave him an antibiotic shot that day and i waited for a call. 3 days have past i didn’t receive any communication from the vet until I called them Friday evening for an update. Was told the results aren’t in, and someone should call over the weekend. No one called. I called them on Monday for an update. At first no one answered I called maybe 3 times every 15 mins or so and it went to voicemail everytime. I finally got someone on the phone and was told they are having “computer issues” and I would get a call back, I did receive a call from the Dr maybe 3-4 hours later, the results came in and everything was normal. But my kitty hasn’t gotten better and I explained that. I felt frustrated about the lack of communication and the unknown around what was happening. It was only after I was essentially crying on the phone the person I was speaking to said the antibiotic shot they gave him was good for 2 weeks and they can’t prescribe anything else. The vet recommended I bring him back on this past Wednesday for blood work, (the 8th day) I did, was told results would be in the next day and I should receive a call. Next day came and no call. I called them Friday afternoon and was told the results are normal. I explained my kitty wasn’t getting better and they said they would prescribe a different antibiotic but I had to order it from chewy because they don’t have it at the office and I can’t give it to him until after next Tuesday (2 weeks from the first shot). This would take at least another week to get the digital prescription into the system and shipping time.. which puts us way past next Tuesday. Today my kitty was stumbling around like he was drunk, I called metuchen again and they told me to go to the ER because they aren’t able to help me.
I brought him to the ER and the ER requested the tests results from Banfield metuchen. Banfield told the ER they don’t have any medial records for my kitty.. i literally just spoke to the front desk less than an hour prior to this request. When the ER got the paperwork and immediately told me that his bloodwork was in fact not completely normal and identified other things that were overlooked. The ER redid a handful of the tests that Banfield metuchen did. We got medication on the spot.
I’m not sure what game they are playing at metuchen but I feel like I was gorged honestly. In total over 2k in vet bills with minimal answers and very limited communication offered without me reaching out to them. I do not feel like my pet was a priority. My kitty has been sick for almost 3 weeks at this point. All I understood was my kitty isn’t feeling well and I’m not getting enough information or support to do something about it. Between not telling me the shot was good for 2 weeks when I was there to “normal” test results that aren’t normal… whats going on over there? I will not be coming back to this office ever.
And I highly advise anyone else looking for a vet to use a different Banfield branch.
Bridgewater and Union were by far better than metuchen.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
Optimum Wellness Plans® Virtual Visits: If you have an Optimum Wellness Plan and scheduled a Virtual Visit, you’ll save valuable time and get quality care from the comfort of your home.
