- RSRussell SimonDec 16, 20255.0This morning, I took my new kitten to Bond Vet Edgewater (BVE) just six weeks after the doctors and staff at BVE helped me through the worst day of my life -- saying goodbye to Smokey, my beloved senior tuxie. Smokey was a patient at BVE for more than two years, for problems big and small, and each visit was an investment in keeping him here with me for as long as possible. So why go back? A lot of reasons, beginning with medical expertise and compassion. Each exam includes both a medical and holistic evaluation, and treatment plans are discussed with both the pet and the parent in mind. They understand that a visit to the vet can be just as traumatic, if not more so, for the parent as the pet. Everyone at BVE makes an effort to get to know you and your pet -- they want to see sweet photos and hear the stories about your special bond with your pet. Ultimately, it came down to a visit I had on one of Smokey's last days. I was utterly bereft and just sat on the floor and cried, a whirlwind buzzing in my head. That's when Smokey's doctor sat on the floor with me, explained everything so I could understand what happens next, and reinforced that I was a great daddy and truly took every step I could for him. When you find people that care for you and your pet(s) like that, you keep them. So, that's why Pixie got her first vet visit at BVE today.

During the cleaning, an oral exam is performed, full-mouth radiographs are taken, teeth are scaled and polished, and we remove calculus from the tooth's surface and under gum lines. We then probe the teeth to measure the pockets that exist under the gum lines. If teeth are very unhealthy, we remove them.
