- HMHeather MerunkaMar 29, 20261.0DO NOT USE THEIR GROOMING SERVICES. I have a 2.5 yr old goldendoodle. He has very thick, curly,wirey hair. It has been about 2.5 months since he was groomed due to many, many reasons. However, I do brush him out, bathe him, and make sure he is comfortable. He is very curly and long right now and yes has some mattes like behind his ears and in collar area. I made an appointment at Petco in Brick because our normal groomer is usually very booked out. We get there this morning and the groomer JAMIE pets him once and says " he is completely matted. Down to the skin, Im going to have to shave him" I said "He is not matted down to the skin and we do not want him shaved" she said " yes he is" I said " we do not want him shaved" and she said " well thats all I can do". I looked at my husband and asked him what he wanted to do, before he could say anything she chimed in saying " im going to have to reschedule this anyway, its gonna take too long". My husband, we are done here and we walked out. We took the ride to our normal groomer (an actual groomer), explained what happened at the petco. The groomer took one look and said, he is not matted. Took the time to play with him and pet him good, he then got out his comb and it went through his fur perfectly fine. He turned to us and said " he is gonna brush out just fine, they just didnt want to do the work"......I will be honest and say our groomer is more expensive but well worth the money for the quality of work and treatment of their clients.
