After reading a few other reviews who had similar experiences, I decided to share mine. If you have a doodle with any kind with curls, this is not the place for you. I have a standard goldendoodle who has been groomed by Splash and Dash a handful of times. I showed pictures of how I wanted him groomed on our first visit. The grooms were inconsistent, despite notes in the computer. He was groomed by them at the beginning of August. I was happy with the result, so I decided to return this time as well. When I dropped him off, there was a discrepancy in what the individual who checked me in, and the groomer, stated would happen. The groomer told me he had matting, and it would need to go shorter than last time, probably to an 8. He had gone the same amount of time between grooms so I didn't understand why. I specifically told her I didn’t want him shaved completely down. I wanted his face/head area the Teddy bear look, with a beard and mustache. I did not want his eyelashes cut. I also told her please do not mess with his ears too much, only a trim as he had just been treated for an ear infection. The groomer kept saying he needed to go shorter on his body because of the type of hair he has, and matting. I almost left, but went back in to clarify what I wanted and they thought he needed. The lady at the front desk assured me, his notes in the computer indicated he had been as short as they were talking before (like last time) and he wouldn’t be completely shaved down. Against my gut instinct, I let them groom in. When I picked him up, I almost cried. He was totally shaved down on every inch of his body. Eyelashes gone, no beard or mustache, large bald spot on his chest. Like I had brought in a stray who was mangy, matted everywhere, and totally uncared for. I didn’t even recognize him. They shaved him down to a 10; stating his matting warranted it. No! I’ve had him for 3 years, and even when there has been some matting in the typical doodle places, this has never happened. He has gone longer between grooms before. I brush and comb him, and trim his face myself in-between grooms. They tried to tell me it was because the matting was close to the skin, something I wouldn’t see myself, and partly because I had bathed him at home. Similar to what others have experienced. When you know someone specifically says they don’t want certain things, was nervous about leaving him anyway, and you make a decision to completely shave him, I should have been called and given that choice. Because it was mentioned when I was there, I'll give them that piece. But, when specific requests I made were ignored and done anyway, that’s truly just blatant disrespect by the groomer. The more I have looked at him, even if I wanted it this short, it’s done so poorly. It’s uneven in multiple places. Pictures for reference: 1st one is two weeks after his last groom, last two are from yesterday (one showing the bald spot). I will never take him back there again.
