I had a very concerning experience with the grooming services at Petco. I brought my dog in for a grooming appointment with Anna, and he was returned to me with multiple injuries. These included razor cuts around the anus, testicles, elbows, back, and both ears. What’s most troubling is that at the time of pickup, we were not informed that he had been injured. It was only after we got home and noticed the severity of the situation that I had to seek veterinary care immediately. Over the past two weeks, I’ve had to take him to the vet, purchase medications, and manage ongoing treatment. He has required pain medication, antihistamines, steroids, antibiotics, and two different topical ointments. He is still not fully recovered. In addition, behavioral supplements were recommended to help him cope with the trauma from this experience. Behaviorally, he came back severely distressed, hiding and isolating himself inside our home, reluctant to go outside, avoiding walking around the house, and not wanting to be touched at all. Even gentle contact seemed to cause discomfort, which leads me to believe he was in significant pain. This is completely out of character for him. While the store did offer to cover the expenses, the process overall was extremely stressful. There were inconsistencies in the information I was given. Initially, I was told one version of events, and after asking a supervisor to review the cameras, I received a different explanation. This lack of clarity forced me to escalate the situation to a district supervisor just to understand what actually happened. Although the district supervisor was attentive, I was not allowed to view the footage myself and ultimately had to rely on their account, despite the earlier inconsistencies. I understand that accidents can happen in any business, but transparency, accountability, and proper communication are essential, especially when it comes to the safety and well-being of animals. Unfortunately, those standards were not met in this case. Because of this experience, I cannot recommend this grooming service. I strongly advise other pet owners to proceed with caution.

My daughter brought my dog in for a bath and the groomer did an excellent job. I especially love the report card that was sent home with my dog.

My dog is clearly a Shih-Tzu mix. I asked for him to be cut down to look like a Maltese. He’s an extra small dog (less than 10lbs) But he was put in the system as a Maltese and then I was charged for a long hair groom. Dutchie has never had long hair even when he’s grown out. After dematting and material charges the cost of the groom for a 7 lb dog was $82. She didn’t demat, she cut all the mats out. Definitely seems like they overcharge at this location. His groom should’ve been around $55-$60.
