Great petstore with such a different variety. A little pricier than some other stores, but has a great deal more quality food to choose from for dogs. The cat food selection is ok, but not as wide.

I pulled up to get my snake food before the storm, and I was desperate to get it in case a power outage hit. The storm wasn't expected to hit for another two hours, and the website said they should be open for another three.
When we pulled up, an employee made eye contact with us before turning around and bolting in to lock the doors without warning. We didn't realize that was what she did until we went up and the doors wouldn't open. There was no notice on the door or anything.

I've started coming here more often since they know how to take care of their animals better than PetSmart. I came here to get a betta fish for my son and I since PetSmart's betta fish look neglected or have passed away. Overall, I don't support bettas being in little cups. I wish Petco and PetSmart would both start bringing in tanks for the betta fish and putting the betta fish in 5 gallon tanks each. They would do a lot better if they would actually take proper care of their betta fish and putting them in proper filterd tanks for customers to purchase, especially customers with children who are trying to teach their children responsibility about taking care of animals.

Two and a half years ago, I was talked into signing up for Petco’s paid rewards program at $9.99 per month. I was told I would receive discounts on store purchases. Since then, Petco has quietly debited my bank account every month, totaling over $300.
Today, I finally returned to the Hickory, NC store and spent a significant amount of money purchasing parakeets and a bird cage—only to be told the rewards program did NOT apply to the cage. So after years of payments, the “rewards” were essentially worthless when I actually needed them.
I contacted Petco customer support to cancel and was shocked to be told that they would continue debiting my account anyway because the program runs through June 26. That is unacceptable. I had no reminders, no meaningful benefits, and no reasonable way to opt out without jumping through hoops.
I ultimately had to call my bank and place a stop payment just to prevent further charges.
This feels deceptive at best and fraudulent at worst. Charging customers for years for a rewards program that barely applies to anything—and then refusing to stop billing when requested—is not ethical business practice.
I will never set foot in another Petco for as long as I live. Buyers beware.
