I had to euthanize my old sick Doberman that I have had for about 13 years. That part went as well as could be expected. I had informed the receptionist when I made the appointment that I would be taking my dogs' body with me. Due to a schedule conflict with the cremation service I had to leave my dog overnight to pickup her body the next day. I was VERY VERY clear about personally picking up her body in a box with the 2 receptionists at the desk and I empasized the point at least 4 times to 3 different staff members. So the next morning I called to let them know I was waiting outside. They brought me the half frozen body of my beloved pet in a heavy duty garbage bag!!!! I about lost my mind. The vet tech (one of two) who carried my dog out said she thought I was just the company they contacted with!!!! Really? I call in to pick my dog up in my personal vehicle after being very clear to several other staff members about it and they still treat my dog like trash. I told them to go get a box and after at least 15 minutes they come out with a box that will very clearly not acccomodate an 80 pound dog. I am crying my eyes out this whole time and I told them I could not believe how cruel and disrespectful their behavior was. The tech, standing there holding my dog in a trash bag had the nerve to say they were always respectful! I called right at 7am on Monday to tell the office manager what happened and she pretended to be upset and concerned saying she would send an email to the district manager and either she or the district manger would contact me. Surprise surprise still no contact from anybody at that office. No apology, no concern no compassion. I started taking my dog there because I like the vet who works there, but the staff is Horrible, top to bottom. I am writing a letter to their corporate offices. This was absolutely uncalled for, and could easily have been avoided with a little communication between staff members, but apparently that is not a concern there. If I could give negative stars I would.
I received a call around 1150am on Tuesday from the Practice Manager who apologized profusely about what had happened. She said she would cancel any further payments to my plan as a gesture. I suggested in addition going forward something needed to be done about the lack of communication in this office. Clearly the office personnel were not talking to each other or this would not have happened. I also suggested a little training on empathy and how to deal with people who are grieving would be a good idea for all the staff members. (For context, this was fourth companion animal I had lost inthe the past two plus years since my husband's death. One was 8 years, 15 years, 18 years and this dog was over 13 years).
Just wanted to update post.

What is an Optimum Wellness Plan?
Optimum Wellness Plans are designed to provide annual preventive care. They include head-to-tail exams, vaccines, early screening diagnostics, consultations for proper nutrition, dental care and more! Since wellness plans are not insurance, they do not include treatment for unpredictable or abnormal conditions, however discounts would apply. Because pets need ongoing preventive care, wellness plans automatically renew at the end of each twelve month period (unless paid in full at enrollment).
How do I pay for an Optimum Wellness Plan?
You can spread the cost of your wellness plan across the 12 months of your annual agreement to make it easier to budget for the essential health care your pet needs. Your monthly payments can be automatically withdrawn from a checking or savings account or charged to a credit card so that you don’t have to worry about them once you enroll. We also offer the option of paying in full if you prefer.
What kind of appointment do I have?
• In-room appointments: You and your pet visit the vet together. Please arrive a few minutes before your appointment time
• Drop-off appointments: If you have a drop-off appointment, we will communicate a time to drop off your pet. Keep your phone nearby and we’ll call you when your pet is ready for pickup.
