We were very happy with the visit we made with our precious cat. We were from out of town and had to visit due to it being a holiday and our local vet was closed. The staff here are very professional and caring. Our cat, Midnight, had to stay overnight for fluids and to get her tummy feeling better. They kept us updated along the way. They were very upfront regarding all costs of treatment and allowed us to decide the course of treatment which we were pleased with. Even though the cost of treatment is hefty, that is not Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital's fault at all - that is an industry-wide issue. They do provide financial options for payment. Thank you WCRAH! We would come back again if the need arises!!! You are the best of this scale in our area!

After a difficult experience with another veterinarian, we transferred our senior cat, Novi’s, care to Western Carolina Animal Hospital, and we are so incredibly grateful that we did. From the moment we arrived, their team treated both us and our cat with compassion, respect, and professionalism. They truly listened to our concerns and took the time to understand what our cat was going through. During such a heartbreaking stage of her life, their guidance and recommendations were thoughtful, humane, and centered around her comfort and quality of life. We felt supported every step of the way, which meant so much to our family. End-of-life care for a beloved pet is never easy, but the kindness and empathy shown by the team at Western Carolina Animal Hospital made a very difficult time more manageable. We are deeply thankful for the care they provided and the dignity they gave our sweet girl, Novi, in her final chapter. We wholeheartedly recommend Western Carolina Animal Hospital to anyone looking for compassionate, professional veterinary care.

My 4 month old puppy broke her leg. They took her right in and took great care of her. Gave me my options and got her comfortable. We are following up weekly now until she is fully healed

I brought my cat here after being at VEG ER and was told by staff that I could save a few thousand dollars by taking my cat to Western Carolina Emergency Animal Hospital. I called them when I was still at VEG ER and asked the estimate of a urinary cat blockage and they quoted me $2600-$3800 over the phone. This was a couple thousand less than VEG so I decided to transport my cat to get care here. Upon arrival they took my cat into the back immediately. After I finished the check in paperwork I was escorted into a room. After a brief visit from the nurse bloodwork was done and the Vet came in Dr. Efrem Kussin. As I was sitting in the chair scared to death that my cat might die. I was told that the charges would be between $4000-$5800 which was much more than I was quoted but okay. Then Dr. Kussin towering over me showed no care or concern as he rambled on about this being 100% stress related and I must change my cats diet. He continued to talk down to me and made me feel so uncomfortable and unheard. Cutting me off at every sentence and stating it was not their job to know everything about an animal they were just there to put on a "bandaid and fix the immediate situation." During this time I could also hear my cat yowling in pain in the back. I expressed to Dr. Kussin on more than one occasion that he was making me feel extremely uncomfortable. His behavior continued and I requested the return of my cat because I was going to return to VEG ER and get the care and kindness and empathy that my pet and I both deserved. I left this hospital in emotional destress and had to pay them $682.50 to be treated like garbage. Dr. Kussin showed zero empathy skills and even if this service was less expensive I would never leave my pet in the care of people like this. If they treat a human like this, just image what they are doing to your pet behind closed doors. I reached out to the management on two separate occasions as well as VEG ER staff reached out to them with concerns of the lack of empathy and behavior of Dr. Kussin. I have never received a phone call nor acknowledged for this unkind behavior towards me.
