Great staff, helpful and friendly. Absolutely loved the care and attention they gave to our newest family member when we had our lil Max in for a bath and nails.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Petco grooming. I made it very clear—both when I scheduled the appointment and again at check-in—what type of haircut I wanted for my dog. Despite that, when I picked her up, they had completely chopped off all of her hair. This was not even close to what I asked for. If there was any confusion, someone should have clarified before proceeding, not just done whatever they wanted. What makes this even more frustrating is that I’ve tried calling multiple times to address the issue and have gotten no response. That level of customer service is unacceptable. I trusted them with my dog, and they didn’t listen. I won’t be returning.

Yesterday I visited the PetSmart located in the shopping center off Skybo Road next to DSW on Skybo Road in Fayetteville, NC because I was hoping to adopt an emotional support pet through the store’s adoption program. I am a long-time pet owner, a mother, and an anime fan. I moved here from Oakland, California, and much of my journey relocating to Fayetteville has been about alignment and building a stable life. When I walked into the store, I immediately noticed a cat currently up for adoption named Inosuke (INOSUKE)—a pivotal character from the anime series Demon Slayer. When I saw the cat’s temperament and appearance, I immediately felt a connection. I was directed to speak with an older woman who a store associate told me oversees the adoption program. I spent approximately 45 minutes speaking with her. During that time she shared extensive personal opinions about the cats, her own experiences with them, and her preferences for what she believes makes a suitable adopter. During the conversation I showed her a photo of my pets from 2023, taken while I was transporting them for a family member during a vacation. In the photo the pets were sitting in the front seat of my car and were not in carriers. Based on that photo alone—taken three years ago—she denied my adoption request. During the same conversation she also stated that she refuses to adopt pets to people who live on military bases and that she does not like placing pets with families who have children. I was also told they have had issues in the past with people who have autistic children, which was extremely upsetting to hear as a parent. This is a military-heavy city, and comments like that are important for people to be aware of. Throughout the conversation she repeatedly used the term “we” when discussing these positions, although she appeared to be the only person making the decision during my interaction. I understand that adoption programs must ensure animals are placed in safe homes. However, denying someone based on a single photo from years ago and expressing personal biases against military families, people with children, or families with autistic children is concerning. For anyone considering adopting from this location, my advice would be to answer only the questions required in the application and avoid sharing additional personal information, because it appears decisions may be heavily influenced by personal opinions. I truly hope Inosuke finds a loving home. He deserves one. I hope this is not the standard procedure for pet adoptions.
