Unfortunately, my experience was overshadowed by an uncomfortable comment from the veterinarian, who looked at the cat and said, “I think someone owns you.” While the remark may not have been intended to be accusatory, it came across as implying that I had taken someone’s pet, which was upsetting and unnecessary. I was simply trying to do the right thing for an animal that needed help. Instead of feeling supported, I felt judged. Mind you, they didn’t see what this cat looked like the very first time we saw her. She was in rough shape back then, and the only reason she looks healthier now is because we’ve spent months feeding her and caring for her. The vet seemed to judge the situation based solely on the cats breed and how the cat acted and looked now, without knowing the actual history. I would have appreciated a more thoughtful, compassionate, and professional approach, especially in a situation where someone is trying to provide care for a stray. I hope the staff will be more mindful with their wording in the future so others don’t leave feeling the way I did.
