Brought my boy Horatio in, he wasn't doing well and the Urgent Vet in Gastonia was zero help. Though they did refer me here and I'm glad for that. Despite the wait with little communication initially they did take good care of my boy, and kept him safe after a possible poison ingestion.
Emergency price was high but average for the service by comparison. Should anything happen to either of my lil ones I would feel confident bringing them here in the future.

If your cat/dog has asthma, don’t bring them here. They will charge you 2500 dollars for an inhaler that doesn’t work. I have seen no improvement in her breathing. Scam of my money. Didn’t give me any extra information about how to take care of her or what to do when the asthma gets bad. All they want is your money, they don’t care about you or your pet.

I can't say enough good things about the people here and the hospital! They were so thorough with my very sick young cat. They're looking into all what can be causing her problems. I'm so happy I was referred here for help. The tech and dr spent so much time discussing her problem, testing.,explaining everything and ask8 if I had any questions. Thank you so much for everything for my fur baby. I finally feel she'll be on the road to recovery soon !

We had the worst day ever...after a normal morning, our family dog collapsed at 2pm. Her breathing was labored and she couldn't get up. At 12 1/2 I feared the worse. We raced to the nearest pet ER and before I could even finish giving the desk my info she was being triaged. The assessment was not good but they were able to stabilize her and make her comfortable which gave my family time to get there. The staff gave us a full explanation of what they had discovered along with our options. They then gave us a private room with her and all the time we needed to talk as a family and make the hardest decision. We were able to stay with her as long as we wanted as we said our goodbyes. The Dr was incredibly compassionate during the entire process. A week later the office even sent a sympathy card. As tough as this day was I am very happy with the care we received. When we decide to get a new family member, I will be making them our first choice vet.

We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Cortes and his team at Carolina Veterinary Specialists. Our pup Watson had to have his toe amputated for what turned out to thankfully be a benign tumor. Watson is our baby and I was a nervous wreck as this was his first big health scare. Working with Dr. Cortes and team we never felt pressured into surgery and never felt like we were being nickel and dimed. He explained everything so thoroughly and really took the time to talk us through our options and the results after surgery. He even helped me with extra documentation needed for me to appeal claims with my insurance company. Above all else we were shown genuine empathy and knew Watson was truly being cared for by the team. He’s now doing great living life with one less toe. Thank you to Dr. Cortes and team!
