Our pet stayed at the CVS (Rock Hill and Charlotte) for a few days. In general, our pet received good treatment. The vet, Dr Jackson, was easy to communicate with. She works with genuine passion and care, always putting his heart into everything he does. We give her 5 stars. No issues there until we got to the money side of the equation. Luckily, at checkout we carefully reviewed all items included in the bill. A few items were duplicated. it would cost us over $320 if we missed that. The duplicates were removed manually by the front desk. We left the facility happy with our pet. A few months later we received a letter from collections trying to collect "outstanding balance". No apologies when called to the CVS. Lack of communication between facilities Rock Hill and Charlotte.
*Comment after response from CVS. The statement above is correct. The duplicate charge was manually taken off by the front desk at checkout after verification with the supervisor. For whatever reason it was not followed thru and updated to reflect in the bill. You can contact me for clarification. I have proof.

I can’t speak highly enough about the entire staff, but Dr. Hofmeister and Dr. Arnold were absolutely amazing. Dr. Hofmeister took my cat in as an emergency case and single handedly reviewed his entire medicine protocol and made changes based off of recent research she had seen and it made a massive difference. Her effort into being a better Doctor directly led to a drastic change for the better for my cats health while he waited for Surgery. Dr. Arnold performed the surgery and was extremely clear on what the process would be and did a fantastic job. I would never wish an animal emergency on anyone but this team is fit to tackle the issues life throws us.

Chewy reached out to this location in error instead of the correct one I provided and instead of advising them that the Dr they needed to verify with was at another CVS location they declined my prescription. This caused delays for my pet’s palliative care. Please take better care and be mindful that you could have been a huge help in getting this corrected but instead caused further grief.

Super friendly staff. We were in and out quickly. My dog was attacked by a much bigger dog and they were very patient with him and gave me step by step instructions for helping him at home. The vet even offered me to text her if needed. They also made me aware of prices before completing next steps. This happened over a holiday weekend and the staff responded quickly and showed so much compassion for my dog.

While on vacation in Charlotte, our dog Frankie started showing signs of an obstruction. We quickly brought him to Carolina Veterinary Specialists and they were able to see him shortly after our arrival. His exam and X-rays were completed in the morning and they were operating on him that evening to remove a toy he consumed. Dr. Hofmeister was clear about treatment options and cost. We were hoping the toy could be removed via endoscopy but they realized it was much larger and needed to switch to surgery. This possibility was clearly explained to us before any treatment and we received a call before he was transferred into surgery.
I felt like he was well cared for post-op and received updates throughout his stay. We were also able to visit him the morning after his surgery. They discharged him as soon as he ready and didn’t keep him there any longer than what was needed/safe.
Emergency vet care is obviously costly, but when your pet receives quality care it’s worth it. Fortunately we have insurance, but Care Credit was offered as a payment option, if needed.
These situations are always stressful, even more so when you are away from home, but I’m glad we found CVS and he’s on the road to recovery.
