Petco used to be my go‑to place for food and treats for my dogs and cat, but after my recent experience I really regret signing up for their services. I was talked into getting the Vital Care Premier plan so I could use the discounts for food and grooming. On paper it sounded great, but in practice it’s been extremely disappointing—especially on the grooming side. I brought in my two dogs for grooming and it felt like the staff just didn’t want to work with them. One of my dogs is very anxious and needs patience. At the start, I clearly explained that he doesn’t like having his paws held. He can be a bit much, but we have never had issues at other groomers. At Petco, they told me that if he stayed agitated and didn’t let them hold his paws, they wouldn’t be able to groom him at all. There was no real effort to work with him or make him comfortable. My other dog has had multiple health problems. He’s had several surgeries on his nose that caused his nostrils to collapse, and he recently had cancer removed. He can breathe on his own—mostly through his mouth, a little through his nose—and this has never been a problem for other groomers. At Petco, they suddenly said they needed a veterinary note just to give him a bath. Overall, it felt like they don’t know how to handle dogs with anxiety or medical histories and only want perfectly calm, “easy” dogs. Because of that, I didn’t even finish the grooming appointment and decided I’d rather take them somewhere else. The experience got worse when I tried to cancel my Vital Care Premier subscription. What they don’t make clear when you sign up is that you’re locked in for a full year. Customer service basically told me I was stuck with it and showed no interest in helping, even though I can’t realistically use the grooming benefits anymore. There was no attempt to make things right. Given all this, I would not recommend Petco for grooming or for their Vital Care Premier plan—especially if your pets have anxiety or medical issues. I’d rather drive farther to another groomer than bring my dogs back here.

I go here for aquarium products which are usually not up to standard. I got tetras which gave my other fish ich of course they took those tetras back but damage was done to my existing fish. The live plant selection is awful and expensive

In a large shopping mall next to Target which can be convenient, with plenty of parking. Not very many animals if that’s what you’re going for, and many of the tanks were empty. It was clean, not busy and well staffed. I’d recommend it for the grooming or pet supplies mostly.
